A bit of clarification on terminology. A High Mass and a Missa Cantata are the same thing, a sung Mass without a deacon and subdeacon. I think that what you have in mind is a Solemn Mass, which is a sung Mass with a deacon and subdeacon. [A note: According to the universal law incense should actually only be used at the Solemn Mass but the U.S. got an indult to use it at the High Mass.]

I appreciate any erudition on this although I have never been to a Latin Mass with either a deacon or subdeacon or incense, for that matter! I'm reading various things about High Mass vs. M.S.
