(05-22) 19:18 PDT ALAMEDA -- The man who said the world was going to end appeared at his front door in Alameda a day later, very much alive but not so well.
"It has been a really tough weekend," said Harold Camping, the 89-year-old fundamentalist radio preacher who convinced hundreds of his followers that the rapture would occur on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Massive earthquakes would strike, he said. Believers would ascend to heaven and the rest would be left to wander a godforsaken planet until Oct. 21, when Camping promised a fiery end to the world.
But on Sunday, almost 18 hours after he thought he'd be in heaven, there was Camping, "flabbergasted" in Alameda, wearing tan slacks, a tucked-in polo shirt and a light jacket.
Birds chirped. A gentle breeze blew. Across the street, neighbors focused on their yard work and the latest neighborhood gossip.

Pretty sure most of it was spent on billboards etc.
The usual suspects on this board are on the warpath and I have tried to sooth their feelings but some serve only to rile these spiritually bankrupt up into a state of religious ecstasy. How shame full
While it was foolish to believe that a man could have known when the Rapture would occur, it is sickening to see the absolute glee which many people are displaying toward the misfortune of the people who put their faith in this man and then spent their life savings. There are people who will totally turn away from Christianity now because their belief in this man was unfounded, and will now be led astray.
I am trying to understand how one considers it being a really hard weekend because the world did not end.

Same thing happened to alot of Y2K doomsday people (paging Gary North).
Life goes on...
I am interested to know the suicide statistics of his ‘believers’.
How much blood does he have on his hands or will he have over the next few months.
Some of these people quit their jobs, spent their retirement, alienated friends and family. They have nothing left but a cardboard box in an ally way.

It would do well for Mr. Camping to reflect on Matthew 18:6:
"But whoso shall cause one of these little ones that believe on me to stumble, it is profitable for him that a great millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be sunk in the depth of the sea."
Maybe it did happen and he/we didn’t make it. :)
Sorry but these people are fools and are reaping their rewards....this is what happens when you put your faith in men!! They may blame Christianity but the real blame lies in their stupidity!!!!
"Mr. Camping" is only the tip of the iceberg
Should be a lesson about anyone who uses numerology and biblomancy in their divination. How could Biblical information be derived from anti-Biblical means?

As these people were cultists, placing their faith in a different gospel, a different Jesus, and different grace, they weren’t Christians to begin with. They are no better and no worse off than unbelievers, except they should now see the truth more clearly than most. Probably a remnant will.
Mister Camping, it is time for you to go HUMBLY BEFORE THE LORD and beg for forgiveness for thinking you knew more than Jesus. According to the Bible, not even Jesus knows the time for Judgement Day.
