You are absolutely correct on this. Again, it's the Continental Masonry vs. English Masonry thing.
Continental Masonry can be virulently anti-Catholic. I personally believe that much of its character was formed by men and women who blamed the Church for their woes in society and saw Masonry as both an escape from that and as a place to find others of a similar mind. I have little doubt that Continental Masonry deserves all the condemnation that the Church gives it and more.
I guess I just wanted to make it clear that we're not all like that. I've been a Mason for 5 years. I belong to the Scottish Rite and hold the 32nd Degree (it's not as huge an accomplishment as it might initially sound). I'm a former Catholic (now Anglican) who still holds the Catholic Church in the highest of regards -- I just want to be sure that friends aren't perceived as enemies and that the right people are condemned.
The History of the “only Lady Mason” is one which must interest every member of the Craft, and this interest is very much increased by having a clear statement of the facts.
The simple facts, that Miss St. Leger when a young girl, obtained possession of certain Masonic secrets by concealing herself in or near the Lodge held by her father at Doneraile House, and that in consequence she was made a mason, were known.

It is not and never has been an accepted practice....
We make our Tiler sit an armored one.
I am clearly incorrect on this.
Here is the reference that my faulty memory must have changed:
From page 187 of the book Witness by Josyp Terelya:
Consider some facts: Lenin's mother was named Maria... Anna [mother of Maria, grandmother of Lenin] often went to the meetings of the brotherhood of Masons...
However, in the book In the Kingdom of the Spirit, Josyp Terelya, on page 146, clearly states that Lenin was a mason...
... concluding with the Freemasons - Kerensky, Trotsky, Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, and Fidel Castro ...
It is Josyp Terelya that I rely on for information.
Why?
He was an extraordinary mystic. His own life was saved in such an unusual way that it puzzled the KGB...
Terelya also claimed that leaders of the Communist Party in the USSR were all Freemasons from the beginning...
You may not enter a tiled lodge unless you are a Mason and you can forget about anyone entering if it called in the 3rd degree, except for Master Masons.
I’ll try to research this next week. I am the Secretary of my lodge and have access to resources that may give better answers.
Ping me later if I don’t ping you 1st. I believe one of our know it all’s probably has an answer on this.
WTH is with all these “know it alls”?
They rely on a single recitation as a matter or statement of fact?
LOL
and lame.
+1
Good explanation
They have been “programmed” to believe only what they are told. Never question “authority”.
I know they never convince anyone on this forum to agree with them, unless they already are of that mindset. So, I suspect the only purpose they serve here is to divide us in the effort of opposing the Lefties who want to enslave us.
They are continually posting obscure authors with screeds against everyone who is not Catholic. Some among them defend Monarchies openly, a concept that I thought went away over 100 years ago.
It is a shame and a total waste of time.
It is a malpractice for it to have occurred and against Free Masonry by laws of any lodge laws and by laws.
Further, she was initiated before the age of majority. Big no, no.
I do not recognize her as a Mason as her entire experience was born of fraud and further revelation of arts, parts, etc.
Her family did this in direct violation of any recognized lodge and probably no lodge, in her day, would have allowed her to even darken a door step.
No matter if she could recite anything “She is not part of the Brotherhood”.
That story for proof is a serious misunderstanding of Masonry and is the same as Elvis attaining the degree of black belt in Karate.
Seriously Topher:
Are you making this up as go?
Rainbow Girls are merely a service organization?
LOL
Sure, and Eastern Star is merely a service organization.
agreed.
Only posted that in response to the accusation that it is an accepted practice.
I excerpted the previous link to show that it was not then or now an accepted thing.
This whole line of discussion is absolute nonsense.
I think those who post this type of dribble only do it to excite discussion. If they choose their normal topic of discussion everyone avoids it. So they resort to stirring the pot.
LOL
I was agreeing with you and discounting Bronxville’s assertion.
People like this and Topher like to cite anomalous incidents, dubious sources and total outright fruads and claim them as facts or proof a concept exists.
(hmmm...that didn’t come out well. Oh well...)
Wait!......Are we a secret organization with secrets? /s
I wish I hadn’t left this discussion last night. :(
I had no idea about the two different groups. That’s a lesson for me. Thank you. I come here to learn! :-)
Look to MWS’ post 16. I had no idea that there were two unrelated groups who claim the name of “Masons.”
Here’s a question: Are both called “Free & Accepted Masons” (F&AM)?
...and Knights Templar
In order to be Regular, a lodge has to hold to the 25 Landmarks, which are the cornerstone of Masonry. Those can be found here -- The 25 Landmarks of Freemasonry.
As far as I am aware, Grand Orient lodges do not recognize the 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, and 25th landmarks. If a member of the Grand Orient were to visit an AF&AM Lodge, he ought rightfully be barred entrance by the tyler (the guy we keep outside the door armed with a sword).
