Thank you for demonstrating why the mods, in their infinite wisdom, saw fit to establish a system of “caucus”, “ecumenical”, “prayer” and “devotional” threads in addition to the usual “open” flamefests.

Every time people ask my why some in the Church have a desire for the extraordinary rite, the traditional Latin Mass, I guess I can give them at least one good reason. Masses like this. When one attends the Mass according to the Tridentine Rite, you know what you are going to get. There is no one being creative, no one making up their own prayers or rite, and no question of validity. Dear Bishop Coyne,
Welcome to the real world. Us pew-sittin' Catholics have had to put up with this nonsense for going-on 40 years. What are you going to do about it? When you get back to your diocese, how will you treat complaints of liturgical abuse? Will you police the priests in your diocese? God has granted you great authority as a Bishop. Use it for good. We've had too many Bishops who can't or won't teach, sanctify, and govern.

My wife and I vacation every year at a lake in SW VA and I have ceased attending Mass at all while I'm out there because I can't find anyplace to attend that doesn't leave feeling like I missed Mass. How far is the lake from Roanoke or Glen Allen?

It never stops.
I wonder if we would care if someone tells us on the road that the bridge fell down do not go down this road. Would I wonder why a single man has the right to tell me. So lets just drive all the way.
It is like you can't make this rapid anti-stuff up. The hate over rides his context on the context of the subject. It has nothing to do with it. Astonishing!! The blindness of hate? WOW!! ROFL!!!

Is it possible that the Bishop was recognized by the celebrant? The surprise of Bishop Coyne being there could have given the celebrant what we altar boys used to call “the heebie jeebies”.

How far is the lake from Roanoke or Glen Allen? I beleive that I am sadly aquainted with this parish. Is it the one that the priest comes out and does a "Good morning Viet Nam" style opening and uses glass chalices for the precious blood, no kneelers etc....?

“Luther was an ordained priest.”
He was also a raving anti-semite, whose scribblings (”On Jews and their Lies”) planted the seed for Hitler’s Mein Kamf and the resulting Shoa.

MESSAGE FOR ALL CATHOLICS:
JESUS IS IN THE CONFESSIONAL
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Jesus knew that people would really need to hear these words of re-assurance today, so He went on to say Come with faith to the feet of My representative...and make your confession before Me. The person of the priest is, for Me, only a screen. Never analyze what sort of a priest that I am making use of; open your soul in confession as you would to Me, and I will fill it with My light.” (1725) “Here the misery of the soul meets the God of mercy. If you have never been married, and never had children, you do not have a clue. You cant learn these things in a book. Does that mean that you have cut the Pauline Epistles completely out from your Bible?

He was also a raving anti-semite, whose scribblings (On Jews and their Lies) planted the seed for Hitlers Mein Kamf and the resulting Shoa. Very good. Martin Luther, like the other two main characters of the Reformation had their own personal overriding reasons for their role. And exactly none of them were theological.

Oh my, was Bishop Coyne this priest’s Bishop? If so, then Bishop Coyne needs to have a ‘come to Jesus’ meeting with him. If he’s not this priest’s Bishop, I hope he dropped a line to his Bishop, repeating what his column said.

Paul chose his life style. I've often suspected that his urges, if followed, would have led him to behave in unholy ways. Do you recall that he complained about a thorn in his flesh which he asked The Lord to remove. The Lord told him “My grace is sufficient for you.”
Catholics often use Paul's comment that he “wished all were like me, forsaking marriage (paraphrased).” He continues by saying men should have one wife each and women one husband each. He also said young widows should remarry.
There's plenty of Biblical, New Testament instruction that Priests should marry. When did this change within the Catholic Church? Why did they change it?

The anti-semitic ravings of Martin Luther are no more a part of Lutheran doctrine than the anti-semetic ravings of, say, Clement VIII are of Catholic doctrine.
