Chaput knows about the media. He has a minor feud with the NYTimes which misquoted him (And he had the audiotape to support his version of the interview).

It might be obvious to all of us, but Archbishop Chaput was talking to a crowd of young people, who don’t have the benefit of our experience in this matter. It’s good for them to go into that battle of wits armed with the knowledge that there is a great enemy arrayed against them, and their Faith. They will be the better for that information, even in dealing with their peers, who are getting THEIR information from that same media.
