One point I’m confused about in the story. Did the church pay postage on the deliveries or was the Post Office delivering them for free? The story seems ambiguous on the point.

Has any Post Office ever delivered anything for free unless it was from Ze Government?

Yes, this point is not clear at all. It almost sounds like the Post Office in question originally agreed to just deliver the CD's for free, and then when they determined it might be "controversial" decided against it.

The article says the churches paid to have the CD's made, but mentions nothing (at least that I saw) about whether they paid the appropriate postage. The question I have is, had the churches paid the postage would the post office have delivered them?
