Baker served more than five years of a 10-year prison sentence for his 2007 conviction and was scheduled to be released in August. But the Los Angeles district attorney's office filed a petition to have him committed to a state hospital indefinitely as a sexually violent predator.

The problem, or part of it, is that it’s so easy to ace the psych screening. I wonder if there are any reliable filters/predictors for child predation.
And Mahoney is a problem unto himself. While he was bishop my kid stopped donating to her parish except for restricted gifts.
Meanwhile a dozen (hundred?) public employees will have done the same thing, and not earned headlines in the LA times.
