I left the Catholic church years ago. A big part of the reason is they don't excommunicate people like her & the Kennedy's....Talk is cheap & people know you believe and have faith in God when you do what is right rather what is politically correct... words are meaningless without action.
You're not making much sense... You are upset that the church didn't kick out people who overtly flouted doctrine and so you yourself decided to join those very people oO?

Nancy doesn’t want to let women “die on the floor”, but expresses no concern for the one who dies in every “successful” abortion.
To: topher
Well, she has been allowed to say such things for years now, with no repercussions.
No church body will challenge its members who give grave scandal and are powerful. You loose to much money that way.

The question being asked is “How many people will we loose if we confront Pelosi?”
For the orthodox Catholics, the ones who truly believe, they don't have any where else to go. For the wishy washy ones, they could easily drop out if to big of a deal is made. So the bishop's first instinct will be to keep quiet.

Nancy Pelosi: one of the best reasons for not being a Democrat
To: battousai
What I was trying to say is that part of the reason I left the church is that they did not do what is right. They let powerful, influential people get away with calling themselves Catholic, and not DOING anything about it. If they were excommunicated lots of people might take notice and think; maybe I should follow the church and not the liberals. Talk is cheat; they need to know they are working against God. They tell millions of people it's ok to have abortions & gay marriage is ok.... Some people are dumb enough to believe them and live outside God's plan, they use the Nancy plan. There going to be really upset when they find out just saying your Catholic is not getting them into heaven. I would think the church would have seen the destruction of eternal souls these people cause. If they were no body’s they would be exc. Just like Washington; the powerful are not held accountable.
I did not “join” the liberals. I did go to Catholic grade school, high school & taught ccd, but I now belong to a Christian church that teaches that we get to heaven by faith which means we walk the walk. That walk sometimes means we will be hated because we won't give up our “consciences”. Jesus said we would be hated because of our faith in Him. Look at Franklin Graham & now Tim Tevio. they are hated by the left because they believe God's word and live it. If you were worried I am an atheist, don't. Thanks for your concern.

Leftists stink too -- take a stroll some time past one of those OWS outdoor cathedrals...

I left the church is that they did not do what is right.
This was my point you are deciding whether the Church is doing something right or not, so while you are not trying to support the evil of abortion, there is no difference between your line of thought and that of Pelosi, both are trying to define what the Church should be doing according to their own personal opinion of 'right'.
If you are Catholic you trust in the Church's judgement because we understand that the Church is of God and guided by the Holy Spirit, if you do not believe so that is your choice... but do not fault the church.
The Bible and even contemporary history is filled with the conversion stories of many despicable people who have seen the truth, so who are we to demand excommunication? In God's eyes we are all just as much sinners as Nancy Pelosi.
Trust me I would love nothing better than to see these fakes thrown out, but I also have faith in the Church and understand their reasoning despite my own personal wishes otherwise.

As far as I can tell, in 1994 Richmond neither the diocesan nor the suffragan of Richmond wanted to deal with it. And then a couple of years ago, there still were enough fading-away-on-the-left-horizon clerics that there would be great distress if a conservative Catholic with a wife, to boot, were admitted to the process.
And they took an unconscionable amount of time to reach this conclusion (18 months of broken appintments!) and then to disguise it as an assessment of my suitability. The most telling thing was that as he turned me down the (drum roll) vicar of vocations said that if I’d come to him as an unmarried man in my early twenties he would have recommended me to the Jesuits or the Dominicans.
And my pastor had all along suggested that my being associated with our orthodox parish probably counted against me.
At this point I feel about it the way I feel about a Ph.D. I just don’t have the ability to tolerate the BS required.

I quit watching “60 Minutes” because I saw it as a subtle recruitment into the “I thank God that I am not as other men are” sect.
For the same reason, I will hold your interpretation at arm’s length. I doubt that bishops are so very much less virtuous than you or I.

Sorry to hear about your experience. If all goes well, I should be ordained a permanent deacon November 2012 after a six year program. I can understand your analogy to the Ph.D. I've practiced medicine since 1979 and there was a debate for awhile about certifying the diaconate program I'm in for a M. Div. My feedback was essentially to say "Who cares?"
More letters after a name are irrelevant at my age.
And thanks for your reply BTW.
