Gay Episcopal Bishop to Preach at San Francisco Catholic Parish
Catholic Culture ^ | 11/22/11

A notoriously 'gay-friendly' parish in San Francisco has invited an openly homosexual Episcopalian cleric to lead an Advent Vespers service.

Most Holy Redeemer parish asked Bishop Otis Charles, a retired Episcopalian prelate, to lead the November 30 service. After serving as the Bishop of Utah from 1971 to 1993, he publicly announced that he is homosexual. Divorced from the mother of his 5 children, he solemnized a same-sex union in 2004.

I’m not. I come from a Protestant family. I investigated Protestant claims and decided they didn’t stack up against what the Early Church believed.

Protestantism and primitive Christianity have nothing in common.

When you are arguing with closed-minded misinformed people, there’s really not much to say.

If the Bible doesn’t say Paul wrote Hebrews, how do you know this?

It's called Bible Study...

2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2Th 3:17 The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write.

Col 4:18 The salutation by the hand of me Paul. Remember my bonds. Grace be with you. Amen.

Heb 13:23 Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty; with whom, if he come shortly, I will see you.
Heb 13:24 Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints. They of Italy salute you.
Heb 13:25 Grace be with you all. Amen

There's Paul's salutation...Hebrews was written by Paul...

>>We never said that the Holy Spirit did not come on men.<<

Would you show me where I said that you did?

>>We are also the Christian Church, not the Jewish one. Why do you conflate the two?>>>p> Because the Catholic Priests are trying to be the ones who “have the information and authority” just as the Jewish priests did.

>>As you post, I do not find any understanding of the Holy Spirit, or the Church of Jesus Christ.<<

That doesn’t surprise me at all. I didn’t expect you would.

Christians do not rebaptize. You said that you did. Are you now lumping yourself in with Mormons? I thought that you were some flavour of Presbyterian - not sure of which: the pro-gay or the mandatory gay type.

Actually THAT was my point ...the ONLY ones Rome re-baptizes are Mormons (because they are not Christians .. Thats Romes rule..

We may all check out post 524 for fun and elucidation.

Because the Catholic Priests are trying to be the ones who “have the information and authority” just as the Jewish priests did.

You'll have to argue with Scripture, not me.

When I find understanding of the Holy Spirit and the Church in your posts, I will be the first to praise God.

We Christians recognize the Trinitarian baptismal formula. You said that you were rebaptized as an adult. Does that lump you in with Mormons?

If one was saved by their religious roots ..this would matter.. but the unsaved flock to rome because it makes them FEEL holy... while the saved flee the doctrines and traditions of men..

Protestantism and primitive Christianity have nothing in common.

Sometimes they use the same words, only with different meaning.

The Church for one is not a human institution.

Of course it is (your Church, that is)...Your religion is based and built upon human/pagan philosophy...

You pick out a few verses of scripture and try to understand it and explain it with the only tool you have; man's wisdom; philosophy...

A Catholic priest can't make it thru seminary without massive amounts of education in philosophy...

To the contrary, we have a very reverent view of Scripture. It is the heretics and the apostates that we have a low view of.

So Mark.. was the world created in 7 /24 hour days? Was Jonah swallowed by a fish, Did that donkey give a prophesy?? ? Do you believe that God ordered the death of the enemies of israel??

what should worry those on this board that claim to be Christian is they seem to be rejoicing as well!!

Amen to that.

My opinion is an over-reaction would be a mistake. What we have seen in the Episcopal and other Protestant churches is an escalation to schism. I think this is what those with the homosexual agenda want. The more they are ignored outside their area, the better.

It is wiser to shun and respond appropriately within congregations and diocese - without allowing our opponents to be successful in attempts to split the Church.

Is it so important that you be right that you don't care what is right?

Yes. Over and over again.

Or we can as accurately substitute:
It is so important that Catholics be wrong that you don't care what is right.

Nope.

Was Jonah swallowed by a fish,

Depends if you're reading the OT or the NT.

Did that donkey give a prophesy?? ?

Why not? This one did, many times:

Do you believe that God ordered the death of the enemies of israel??

Do you believe that He killed all the inhabitants left on Earth outside of the Ark?

I never said that. Boy, if you were a baseball player, your batting average would be down in the third or fourth decimal place.

Let me ask you this. If I go to a Catholic church and hear the word of God/instructions for practicing my "religion" preached by an active/unrepentant homosexual priest, is his teaching valid or am I following the instructions of a sinner/satan follower?

If he's a Catholic priest, his teaching isn't valid...
