One Nation Under Gods: A History of the Mormon Church
EdensideChristian.org ^ | 2011

Posted on 12/20/2011 11:29:15 AM PST by Colofornian

Founded in 1830, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was initially perceived as a movement of polygamous, radical zealots; now in parts of the U.S. it has become synonymous with the establishment. In reevaluating its preoccupation with issues of church and state, Abanes uncovers the political agenda at Mormonism’s core: the transformation of the world into a theocratic kingdom under Mormon authority. This illustrated edition has been revised and offers a new postscript by the author.

Looking for a book to give a Mormon for Christmas? Or for a voter considering Mitt Romney? Consider this one by author Richard Abanes.

Abanes includes the Mormonism's core political ageda -- including the attempted transformation of the world into a theocratic kingdom.

Note of disclaimer: Acquiring this book, no matter your source, will not financially benefit me in any way.

Isaiah 9:6:

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

So he will be known as Everlasting Father

Merry Christmas everyone!

I thought the posters at the Free Republic was above religious bigotry. Apparently not. This kind of crap disgusts me

IOW, you're intolerant of my religious vantage point. (And perhaps this author as well)

Doesn't "intolerant" = bigotry?

So you're bigoted against my religious views, eh?

FLDS/LDS Book of Abraham Chapter 4:
1 And then the Lord said: Let us go down. And they went down at the beginning, and they, that is the GODS, organized and formed the heavens and the earth.
2 And the earth, after it was formed, was empty and desolate, because they had not formed anything but the earth; and darkness reigned upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of the Gods was brooding upon the face of the waters.

Mormons believe that Baal and Jupiter formed heaven and earth.

Here is a graven image of Ball at the Nauvoo LDS Temple.

Here is Joseph Smith's prized jupiter talisman, which according to his wife was in his pocket when he was killed in a shootout.

Would be willing to point out the bigotry? The poster is posting a link to a book which documents mormon history, explain how that is bigotry.
As a side note not all belief systems are equal, well unless you are Oprah.

Heh, heh, stick around, there’s a whole entire anti-Catholic caucus here at FR (BTW, I’m Catholic).

But since I have learned a great deal about anti-Catholicism as taught in the sacred documents of the Mormon church, it’s been kind of fun to follow the back & forth in the `open religion’ threads where as stipulated, “antagonism, though not encouraged, should be expected.”

Don’t know of any antisemitism on FR since most FReepers are strong supporters of Israel, though we do wonder why the Jewish vote in America goes overwhelmingly for Obama, who is no friend of Israel. That is a fit topic for discussion, IMO.

You know what disgusts me bill ? Lying cult members with trails of documented deception miles long, claiming to be Christians while running for president.

Personally I will stand up for my God and expose these false prophets. I understand the truth and history of the breakaway lds sect of the mormon cult is ugly, if you don't have the stomache for it make sure Romney doesn't win the primary or you'll be hearing it every night from Chris Matthews !

This threads disgust me also, as do the posters who support this kind of bigotry.

Because you're ignorant of your own mormon history doesn't give you the right to call others bigots for pointing out the truth. It just makes you look foolish.

And using the term "bigot" just to keep your cults lie a going puts in you the same boat as the homosexuals when they use it against anyone who is against same sex marriage and Palestinians who want the world to believe they are the original inhabitants if Israel.

"I'm glad you feel that way. This threads disgust me also, as do the posters who support this kind of bigotry."

"I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father, but by Me."
-Jesus Christ

I guess you will have to consider Jesus Christ a bigot for making an exclusive truth claim too, in order to be consistent...
