(ANSA) - Riccione, January 2 - A statue of the late pope John Paul II in the Adriatic resort of Riccione was wrecked by vandals on New Year's Eve.
Local police are trying to track down the people who severed the statue's head and hands.

Praying for the salvation of souls has taken on a new & increased importance worldwide. The darkness that fills so many minds is pretty incredible. The lack of authentic joy....and the increasing frenzy to make oneself happy seems to be endemic.
I think that we are, indeed, going to see a new age of evangelization amidst all of this evil. I also believe that we WILL see great joy as people begin to discover the source of authentic happiness.

The Vandals were in Tunisia, not Morocco, but I thought they sort of disappeared after Justinian reconquered North Africa. They did go to Rome once for a summer vacation (455) but didn’t get over to the Adriatic coast.

Or a Communist. On the famous mural showing the progress of man,once in Times Square, he painted in statues with a cross around the neck, each with their head or hands broken off.
He also compared the “evil” WEST with the blessed and happy commie Russians.
These people are effing evil!
They destroyed the wrong JP2 statue!
