Yup:
The 1-2 punch vs. Romney:
One: From the article: "Romney failed to convince evangelicals that he cares about their issues, particularly outlawing abortion and same-sex marriage."
And then the "Knock-out" punch: "Evangelicals have come to regard the presidency as a spiritually potent office," said Mark Silk, an expert on religion and politics at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn. "And the idea of electing someone who will use it on behalf of a religion they consider beyond the pale really bothers them."
Example: Mormon leaders have regularly used the terms "gods" -- as in multiple simultaneously living true gods. Could you imagine "President Mitt Romney" appealing to the "gods" plural?
Beyond the pale is right!
(I feel so slimy now...having typed out the phrase "President Mitt Romney")...
From the article: Burke cites surveys indicating that as many as 15 percent of white evangelicals will refuse to vote for a Mormon. "...it could mean that millions of evangelicals stay home during the general election."
Exactly. If Mitt is nominated, up to 15% of Evangelicals will bail.
And Evangelicals were over 1/3rd of ALL voters in 2010! Can you imagine over 5% of all voters saying as one bloc: "No Mitt. NO way!"
No reason to vote for Obama lite.
Too late for that,
I do not refuse to vote Romney based upon his religion. I refuse to vote Romney based upon his liberalism.
“Burke cites surveys indicating that as many as 15 percent of white evangelicals will refuse to vote for a Mormon. “...it could mean that millions of evangelicals stay home during the general election.””
House seats, Senate majority for Repubs, say bye-bye if Willard tops the ticket.
(Of course, you'd vote for just any candidate claiming to be a god-in-embryo on his way to full-grown 'godhood...' Why, I bet you vote for gods all the time!)
The best background on Mormonism is a movie made in the early 80s called the God Makers...don’t know if any copies are still out there, but worth checking out....
Gary Bauer is not needed.
The converse then would be mormons are gathering together to focus on strategies to get Romney elected.
I do not vote for liberals. Mitt Romney is a liberal. It is true however that if Mitt Romney were a conservative (which he is not) I would have no problem whatsoever voting for him.
For the most part you are right, but there are a few issues with the Godmakers (minor ones).
There are two movies that I recommend for anyone leaving Mormonism or thinking about it. Both are very clear analogies (not intentional) of Mormonism and the discovery that everything you believe is a lie.
The first is the original Stepford Wives and the Second is “Dark City”

Yeah, but they ain’t doin’ it in Texas.
This meeting is more than likely to share ground-game strategy to up the total not-Mitt-or-Paul support. Then let the chips fall where they may. An excellent strategy, one we should have been using years ago.
Count me among the 15%, though I believe the number to be higher than that. I will never vote for a cultist.
If, God forbid, Romney is the nominee the media and not just the so called "main stream", will let loose with all of Mormonism's unChristian teachings..................and they won't even have to lie about it.
An all-Catholic ticket would be interesting.
Nor Any other moral majority college republicans ....
I think I’m settled with Gingrich or Perry for Uber Boss and Santorum as veep
I am part of this 15%. No mormon-no way.
Hateful BIGOTS MEET
--MormonDude(We are Christians; just like them. WHY do they HATE us so??)
Neither is Pat.

And if there were TWO folks with politics identical, one MORMON and the other NOT: THEN how would you choose?
