Featured Term (selected at random):
The autobiography of John Henry Newman, published in 1864. It is a history of his religious opinions down to his entrance into the Roman Catholic Church, October 9, 1845. It is one of the great books on modern religious thought, its purpose being to defend his sincerity in becoming a Catholic.
Have any of you read this? Sounds interesting.
Catholic Word of the Day links will be provided later by another FReeper. (Would anyone like to help with this?)

Newman is not one of your light reading authors. He's a typical Victorian and you have to concentrate on what he's saying. But the book is definitely worth the read - especially for me as a convert from the Anglican sphere. I certainly didn't think it all through as thoroughly as His Eminence, but then he wasn't confronted with the lunacy of the Episcopalians in 2003.
One really interesting thing is the origin of the book itself. Newman got into a very public controversy with Charles Kingsley, an Anglican priest and also the author of some wonderful books (e.g. The Water Babies and Westward Ho! ) Kingsley was a rabid (no joke) anti-Catholic and said some pretty intemperate things to Newman in print.
Newman utterly destroyed him.
Later he expanded the correspondence and it turned into this book.
