There is only ONE true Church
Bible | 33-90 AD | God Christ Jesus Apostle Paul

Posted on 01/14/2012 8:23:15 PM PST by bibletruth

In the present dispensation there is only ONE true Church, which is called the Body of Christ separate and distinct from the prophesied, earthly kingdom of Christ vested in redeemed National Israel as a called-out nation or church, assembly or congregation, above all other nations.

>>Christ said to Peter... Upon this rock you should shall build my church!<<

The Rock the church is built on is Christ. Besides, later in that same conversation Jesus called Peter Satan.

It never ceases to amaze me how some people who claim to be proficient in the bible seem to have a biblical quote to justify their arguments, while at the same time disregarding other ones that dont favor their argument.

Exactly why the bible is not meant to be interpreted “literally”, because every time a “literal” interpretation is presented a new “Free Will Baptist Church” is started.

Finally, a thread on this subject that I can get behind! The true church is NOT the Catholics, the Amish, the Baptists, the Shakers or the Methodists. It’s those who believe on the shed blood of Jesus Christ for their salvation and redemption. Period.

Mat 16:18
(18) And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

The disagreement between Catholics and Protestants hinges upon the meaning of the rock.

Protestants understand the rock upon which Christ builds his church to be faith.

Catholics identify the rock as being Peter.

Pope Gregory I, circa 600AD was recognized later as the first Pope, even though he denied the title.

Most doctrines up through 600AD are shared by nearly all believers in Christ. The Reformation (German, Austrian, Dutch, English) generally built upon these doctrines with better doctrines of soteriology. Later Modern church developments better studied the doctrines of eschatology, because it is based upon sound doctrinal studies from previous doctrinal development. Even the Catholic Church didn’t agree on the doctrine of the Trinity until about 350-400AD.

Romans 2:16: In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

Only Christians heed the WORD of God appointed by God and Christ that Paul is the minister to the Gentiles and that Paul was given the gospel of grace and that when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.

Anyone call call themselves a Christian, but if they “profess” that Jesus Christ is their “savior”; but - if they are laboring under the delusion that they must DO “something” (some sort of “WORKS”) in order to KEEP their salvation they are TAKING AWAY from the “FINISHED WORK” of the Lord Jesus Christ on Calvary and ADDING to the Gospel of the Grace of God!

When the Lord Jesus Christ spoke the words “It Is FINISHED” [John 19:30] - you can bet your soul that there is NOTHING that we can DO to ADD to that “FINISHED WORK”! The Lord Jesus Christ did NOT die and shed His blood just for the sins that I committed BEFORE I believed on Him and received Him as my Savior!

1 John 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. {ALL OF THEM!}

These qualities mark a Christian believer.

All of you people believe that anyone who doesn’t agree with you and go to your church/chapel is an apostate from Christianity.
As a result, “Everyone but me and thee is, well, an atheist, and I wonder about thee ... “. We won’t even get into Mormonism, Judaism, Islam and the Asian/African heathens.

“‘We are the best selected few / And all the rest are damned; /
There’s room in heaven for me and you / But we can’t have heaven crammed’”

In Matthew 16 Jesus is talking to all of the Apostles. They were all asked the question of who they thought He was. Though Peter was the one who answered for the group Jesus was talking to them all. When Peter said that they believed He was “Christ the Son of the Living God” Jesus replied and said that it was not flesh and blood that had revealed that to Peter but that it was “my Father which is in heaven”. He then says to Peter “and thou art Peter”, acknowledging that He knew who Peter was just as Peter knew who Jesus was. Then Jesus, referring back to “my Father which is in heaven”, says, “upon this rock I will build my church”.

Deut. 32:4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

2 Sam. 22:2 And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; 3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.

Psalm 18:31, "And who is a rock, except our God."

Isaiah 44:8, "Is there any God besides Me, or is there any other Rock? I know of none."

Rom. 9:33, "Behold, I lay in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense, and he who believes in Him will not be disappointed."

1 Cor. 3:11, "For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ,"

There you go.... picking versus at random.

Peter was still very human, subject to sin, and the influence of Our Enemy. Because, Peter, in trying to dissuade Jesus from the cross, came under the influence of Satan and tempted Jesus not to take up His cross, Jesus clearly perceived the true source of Peter’s seemingly compassionate words and denounces Satan and his influence on Peter.

“Get behind me Satan”. He was addressing Satan not calling Peter Satan. Then, speaking to Peter, Jesus says,
You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men.”

This was Peter’s first lesson in learning how to discern the voice of Satan and the Voice of Christ.

Again, explain how there has been a Pope on record (recorded in history) ever since Peter? Was that just a coincidence?

No, Christ said to Peter, I confirm you, now you confirm your brethren...There was a Pope confirmed ever since Peter...

Sorry, but you cannot deny history!

Or, are you doeing the same thing with Church history as some do with US founding father history...

Not to worry, heaven will not be crammed... only the strait narrow gate is the way to heaven.

Matthew 7:13: Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

Matthew 7:14: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Matthew 7:15: Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

And besides, many people will be in purgatory, so heaven will not be crammed ...

You are correct that Paul was an Apostle to the Gentiles, more explicitly to Rome.

Most early Church members in the body were originally Jewish.

The word Catholic did not even appear until the 6th Century. Read your history. Read “Jerusalem” by Montefiore, a real eye-opening historical account of the history of the city and it many invaders and assorted mass murderers, including the Crusaders, sent there “to reclaim the Holy City” by Pope Urban.

That’s exactly what the CC did when they took one verse from scripture and denied every other verse that claims God is the only Rock. Even that one verse the CC uses is misinterpreted to try to force their control on earth.

Next time you read the Bible, thank a Catholic for preserving the scripture for you. Because, it was the Catholic Monks who saved the scriptures.

Paul was not limited in scope to Rome: Acts 26:10: Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them. Acts 26:11: And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities. Acts 26:12: Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests, Acts 26:13: At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me. Acts 26:14: And when we were all fallen to the earth, I heard a voice speaking unto me, and saying in the Hebrew tongue, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. Acts 26:15: And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. Acts 26:16: But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; Acts 26:17: Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, Acts 26:18: To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Acts 26:19: Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision: Acts 26:20: But shewed first unto them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the coasts of Judæa, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

“You’re a protest-ant” No I’m not! I am not protesting the catholic church. I could care less, I don’t give a Damn one way or another. Your little church has absolutely no bearing on my relationship with Jesus! They didn’t give it to me and they sure can’t take it away. It’s funny you use the term “personnel relationship” Where do you think that term came from?! The catholic church? Rom 5:18 Yes, Adam’s one sin brings condemnation for everyone, but Christ’s one act of righteousness brings a right relationship with God and new life for everyone.
