MOSCOW, January 18 (Itar-Tass) Construction of forty Russian Orthodox churches will be underway in Moscow Citys densely populated bedroom communities in 2012, Vladimir Ressin, an advisor to the Mayor of Moscow told reporters Wednesday.
All in all, the authorities plan building some 200 new Russian Orthodox churches in the citys dormitory districts that have an apparent shortage of church facilities.
Foundations of twenty church buildings have already been laid and were supposed to make arrangements on another twenty land plots this year, Ressin said after a conference on the Program 200 that envisions the construction of 200 fast-to-build churches.
He is the supervisor of the project.

Moscow is again trying to become the THIRD ROME? Better churches than mosques!
It’s a sad thing indeed when the Ruskies get it right and the west gets it wrong.
The irony is Russia is becoming MORE Christian as the U.S. becomes less Christian.
Many years, to his All-Holiness Patriarch Kirill I of Moscow and All Russia!
I wonder if they will really be built. The Russians are big on talk but small on delivery. The expense will be enormous and I don't think they will want to pay so much.
However, the 200 churches may be modest little places.
What am I saying? The Russians don't usually go in for "modest little" anything.
My guess is that a dozen or so big, beautiful churches or cathedrals will be built...and that's grand in itself.
I would not cheer too much. Putin is trying to use the Russian Orthodox Church for political purposes. Also there are legal problems for non-Orthodox churches operating in Russia.
All is not as it seems.
Actually, it's exactly as it seems. Russians are acting like Russians and no longer like Soviets. That doesn't mean they're going to be the US, France, Italy, or any other sort of country with any sort of system that hasn't always worked in Russia.
They'll go through decades of being ruled by near dictators and their cliques along with reviving and funding everything they can that is traditionally Russian. That includes the Orthodox Church, and that includes making it difficult for Muslims and everyone else who isn't Orthodox. That's the way they've been and until they get through the strong man era (if they do) I really don't see why people expect anything else.
Notice too as they become more Christian their economy prospers.
Just keep the FSB away from the Russian Orthodox Church.
