In a new biography, two...Boston Globe reporters write about...Mitt Romney...
On their hunt for The Real Romney, Scott Helman and Michael Kranish traced Romney's life...
SNIP
He...became a leader in the Mormon lay clergy...and eventually became the leader of more than a dozen congregations in eastern Massachusetts.
SNIP
Peggie Hayes
Helman: "One of the things the Mormon church does not look kindly upon is single parenthood. There was a woman named Peggie Hayes who had known Romney when she was in his ward. She had come from a family which had had some struggles, had looked to Mormonism to anchor them. She had a child and then was pregnant with the second child. She was married when she had the first child and got divorced. So she was not married at the time. So Mitt Romney came to her apartment in the city of Somerville [in Massachusetts], and he delivers this message to her, which is, by her interpretation, fairly harsh. Which is: The church does not want you to keep this baby; the church thinks it would be better if your soon-to-be-born son would grow up in a family with two parents, so we think you should give the child up for adoption. And Peggie Hayes' first reaction is that she must have misheard something because she can't believe what he's asking her to do. But he continues, according to her, and in fact goes so far as to threaten her with excommunication that she could be thrown out of the church, essentially, if she didn't follow the church's orders. This was a very distressing visit from her perspective. Romney later denied that he had threatened her with excommunication. But this was a profound moment for Peggie and part of the reason why she ended up leaving the church."

Yup. Mormon LEADERS like Mitt Romney trying to "protect" the Lds church's "reputation" -- at all costs, of course!

Although I imagine they would have preferred not to release this until after Mitt got the nomination, it looks a little like the publisher is getting nervous. After all, if he doesn’t get the nomination, the book is worthlessboth financially and as an attack piece for the Dems.
I have suggested for a long time that, although the media may occasionally play the LDS card only on the down low for now, if Mitt is the nominee every American will know way, way more about Mormonism than we ever expectedall courtesy of the Democrat media machine.
It'll be interesting to see how all the people who've defended Romney on thus far having only one wife will defend this.
(Why do I say "thus far?" Because...
... Mormons believe marriages are forever...
...Mitt's wife has been diagnosed with MS since late 1990s...
...If she dies first and Mitt marries again in the Mormon temple "for eternity," that'll give him TWO wives for eternity...
...in which by CURRENT Mormon doctrine would = Mitt becoming an eternal polygamist...)
I can see the headlines now were Mitt to be in a situation where he took an eventual second wife ... say numerous years into a Mitt POTUS...'Future Polygamist-god Romney sends first wife on ahead to Kolobian universe to ready a great white throne as a transition from his lesser White House role'
Mitt is making the GOP into a laughing stock of shared gullibilities.
Yep when I found out my ex-wife was “celebrating diversity” and I told the Bishop, the very first thing out of his mouth was to keep it quiet. I had another breakaway LDS sect mormon suggest I move to another town or state to keep the whole affair private so as not to sully the reputation of the cult.
Sign of a Cult: Authoritarianism over every detail of members lives.
Willard Romney was there as the enforcer. If anyone thinks he is conservative,
just try to explain this.
At the time he tried to force here to give up her child, she was a mother.
He is as evil as the cult he serves.
All that’s missing is the Kool-Aid.
RE polygamy: My understanding is that LDS outlawed polygamy before the Civil War.
As to Mitt's harsh words: So what? LDS doctrine believes that families should have two parents; what's shocking about that?
Finally, consider the source: a NPR blab show interview of two Dem hacks.
I posted this the other day, but it still applies...
I have a Mormon friend (since High School) who is going through something similar. She is divorced twice, 4 kids. Rather than have an abortion when she got pregnant out of wedlock (to cover up her sin), she decided to have the baby and keep it.
She is now being excommunicated by the Mormon church for her decision.
That is correct. LDS sect mormnons practice this ceremony in the temple. The husband is judged by God(s), gives the signs and enters through the "veil" first. He then judges his wife and is given the option of bringing her through or leaving here there. I have heard of many cases where the husband has left the wife standing there for a time to prove a point, and in one case he left the temple and went home. That will teach those wives to try to "do their own thinking" !
I resigned my membership, have been forgiven and saved by Christ, but I was once an LDS sect "high preist and bishoric member. I'm a little ashamed still to know that I told the husband of a slothful nasty brawling and contentious woman, who is a close friend and neighbor of hot sauce mom, to leave her at the "veil" for an hour to get her head straight.
Yep that sounds about right. Our Stake covered up a serial rapist who raped several women in the Stake. I was only warned because his shrink broke doctor/patient confidentiality and told me since he was in my ward at the time. Every time he did it, they just moved him to another ward, and the women who threatened to press charges were threatened with church discipline.
Negative. It wasn't officially outlawed until 1890 or so, and there are reports of secret polygamist marriages of LDS leaders conducted as recently as 1920. It was never condoned, only set aside for Utah's statehood.
The Breakaway LDS sect is currently taught that Polygamy will be reinstituted at the second coming an on into the eternities.
The psychological worry about the implications of polygamy and a wive's standing with the husband are suffered by LDS sect mormon women to this very day.

I hope, after you’ve completed your thorough analysis and history of the Mormon Church, you will do likewise with Obama’s church that he belonged to in Chicago for over 20 years.
Did you go through the temple ? Ever hear of any ladies being left at the "veil" ?
...And Obama's not running for the republican nomination as a cult member claiming to be a Christian and a commie lib claiming to be a conservative.
Very wrong indeed.
The LDS did not ever technically outlaw polygamy. It is still in their sacred scripture, Doctrine and Covenants, Section 132.
The Mormon Curch was condemned by Congress over the practice over the years. Finally, in 1887, a law was enacted that dissolved the Church as a criminal enterprise, and ordered their assets seized and sold at auction. The law was upheld by the US Supreme court in 1889 and the Mormons agreed to obey the law in the Manifesto adopted in 1890. They lied.
In the Reed Smoot hearings in 1905, it was revealed that the LDS were still practicing polygamy. This time they adopted the seldom discussed Second Manifesto wherein they again promised to abandon the practice. Again, they lied.
In 1923, the Saints finally stopped consecrating polygamous marriages in their temple ceremonies. Coincidentally, this is the year the FLDS broke away from the larger Mormon group.
The last polygamous Mormon president died in 1945, the last (of very few) prosecution for bigamy/polygamy in Utah was in 1952, and today polygamous marriages are rigorously denied but widely reported to exist throughout the LDS communities. The Church still sanctions polygamy in cases where a widow or widower remarries, and they teach that polygamy will occur in the afterlife.
Speaking of the jailed child molestyer Warren Jeffs; what did I find in the INDIANAPOLIS morning paper but TWO ads from his organization; trying to sell stuff to get money!!
What's up with THAT???
We all knew there would be mormon attacks against romney, didn’t we?
