Pastor at Santorum rally: Americans won’t vote for Mormon president, Mormon church is racist
The Palm Beach Post ^ | January 22nd, 2012 | Andrew Abramson

Posted on 01/23/2012 3:10:27 AM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Rev. O’Neal Dozier, the conservative pastor of Pompano Beach’s Worldwide Christian Center, told the Palm Beach Post Sunday that Mitt Romney cannot win the presidency because Americans won’t vote for a Mormon president.

Following his third place finish in South Carolina, Rick Santorum made his first Florida campaign stop at Dozier’s church, where he gave a faith-based sermon. Dozier has been an outspoken critic of homosexuality and radical Islam. In November, former presidential candidate Herman Cain decided minutes before a speech not to have Dozier deliver his invocation, as was originally planned.

“You can look at the June Gallup poll that shows the people have already spoken – 22 percent of the electorate will not vote for a Mormon,” Dozier said. “The American people will not vote for a Mormon to be president of the United States.”

Dozier, who is black, said a Republican will need at least 10 percent of the black vote to win the presidency.

“Blacks are not going to vote for anyone of the Mormon faith,” Dozier said. “The book of Mormon says the Negro skin is cursed.”

From 1849 through 1978 the Church of Latter-Day Saints barred blacks from its priesthood. The church has lifted but not repudiated the policy.

Dozier said if Romney is the nominee, President Obama’s surrogates will bring out what Dozier considers to be racist views in the Mormon Church.

Dozier’s comments came after Santorum had left a Coral Springs rally to attend a private fundraiser at the Coral Ridge Country Club. Santorum was not available to comment.

Dozier believes Santorum’s sermon at the Worldwide Christian Center was a step toward making him the preferred choice of black conservative voters.

“He came to a predominately black church, and he began his campaign at the most impoverished, HIV-invested area of South Florida,” Dozier said. “That will be a big boost to blacks Americans. The conservative blacks want a man who is principled.”

Of Newt Gingrich, Dozier was less critical but said he “has issues with Freddie Mae and Freddie Mac, he was and advisor to them and he lobbied for them.”

But Dozier seemed open to a Gingrich endorsement if Santorum falls short, saying, “I’m hoping that doesn’t hurt him in this case because we might need Newt.”

Could be true. It’s hard to account for money that lives off-shore, I expect.

Well, if gaps the size of semi-trucks appear in those records one could expect some serious covering up - one way or the other.

..wish some of these “experts on mormonism” would do a little research beyond a freaking lds commercial...seriously...

Me too. I am always amused when someone who knows nothing about Mormonism thinks they know more about it than those of us who lived it.

That wasn’t taken out of context. I would also like an answer to Elsie’s question.

Mitt is the way he is (lying liberal arrogant) BECAUSE of his religion, not in spite of it.

I think it may be the opposite. The heirarchy in Slc may learn that mitt UNDERPAID his tithe and owes them millions.

- - - - -
I agree and if it comes out that he has paid less than the manadatory 10%, he will HAVE TO PAY BACK TITHING in order to remain in good standing with his church.

So, lets say he made 50 million a year and only paid 4 million to the LDS for a period of 5 years. In order to avoid church discipline he will have to come up with at least 20 million. Shouldn’t be that hard but it could prove embarassing.

Also, it will put a wrench into his plans to become an LDS General Authority.

Romney is a powerful figure in his cult religion, a man who led in that cult as a Bishop and even a head of Bishops.

A President Romney will require special Secret Service, they will need to not only be Mormon, but will need to be from the most elite Mormons, who are about 15% of the deeper, secretive, leadership of the cult.

The majority of Republican voters are Christian, and for most of them, they don’t count government and country, as outside of God’s realm at least within themselves.

You are right! I believe that anyone of our guys, as weak as they might be would be better than Obama.

Yes...just like Harry Reid told BYU students & faculty when BYU invited him to speak to all on campus (Oct 2007), Reid told them he was a Democrat because he was a Mormon.

As Colo pointed out there are many similarities - more so than differences.

The biggest difference would be that although Heavenly Father is from another planet, he is just like us, same physiology looks like us and has a body of flesh and bone (no blood btw).

1978 is not ancient history, Mitt Romney was in his 30s, and was a leader in that religion, he had already been a Priest, a Missionary teaching their doctrine, and seeking only white converts to it.

This was a time of Jim Belushi and Animal House, Star Wars, and Romney running Bain.

The Democrats will bury him with this stuff.

By the way (shock alert), Romney lied about his reaction to the 1978 news that Romney’s Prophet had received a new revelation from God, regarding the black race, “”I was driving home from, I think, it was law school,”” Mitt was actually a Vice-President at Bain, and well aware of race and affirmative action, etc, both in the 1978 Mormon religion and in the business world.

The poor pastor has the foot in mouth disease, so when he derides Romney’s religion then blurts an error, his initial facts will be tossed over his error int he latter fatcs ... Newt was not a lobiest for Freddie and Fannie and the pastor showed he is a product of media lies not the author of his own researching.

I will never vote for Romney. He is a pale Obama.

I am a Christian first, a conservative second and a Republican third and as a Christian and a conservative I cannot vote for Romney.

Are you a Christian?

When I hear or see that question it always reminds me of the song "Walking in Memphis". The answer is yes. Not a bible thumper because I was raised Catholic and that really wore me out. Some of the priests too but that is another story.

I know there is a G-d. I have heard the voice of the Holy Ghost first hand.

As far as Mormons go I really have no issue with them as people. They are just nice. I have never met any of their mucket-ty-mucks though. Just your standard Mormons including "elders" which is a term that makes no sense to me. They are kids on bikes:)

The parody that the South Park guys I linked to in my previous post while funny is kind of accurate.

All three of you respond as former Mormons, correct? You’ve seen it from the inside. I have no experience with Mormons.

Far more frightening than Colofornian’s comments is the idea that Romney, as I just recalled, can lie to us for the furtherance of his faith (correct?). And DC is friendly to liars.

You are taking one sentence out of context.

That was the sentence with the meat in it.

My question still remains.

I had a Catholic neighbor and she told me that at times she was the reader.

What function is that?

And I don’t think we want to go after Romney’s religion. A lot of things were racist in Americas past. Old fights.

Hey...Unknown Mormon editors may have monkeyed with Book of Mormon passages in 1981 (like changing the word "white" to "fair" in 2 Nephi 30:6), but they didn't touch several other racist BoM passages...which you can see by clicking on link below (2 Nephi 5:21; Jacob 3:5; Alma 3:6; 3 Nephi 2:15).
Racism STILL in Romney's Book of Mormon

As far as I know, Romney and every true-believing Mormon still embraces the Book of Mormon as representing their god.

SOME Lds apologists claim that "anti-Mormons" don't address Book of Mormon content...well...read the racist content and see for yourself before adding distant commentary.
