Prayers up for Mary, her mission, and her family.

My uncle was playing the Nairobi golf course back in the 60s. He landed a drive near a pride of lions and had to wait for close to a half hour for them to leave before they could continue. Evidently lions are considered a natural hazard on the course and you are not allowed a drop.

Garde la Foi, mes amis! Nous nous sommes les sauveurs de la République! Maintenant et Toujours!
(Keep the Faith, my friends! We are the saviors of the Republic! Now and Forever!)

Dear Heavenly Father, We ask You to keep our Mary safe during her travels. We also ask that You give our Conor and his loving wife peace and eliminate their fears and stress. May Mary do Your good works with the people and children of Kenya. May she fill their hearts with Your spirit and Word. May they see Your love through Mary’s actions and good works. In This I Pray. Amen.

*** Conor, she is a beautiful young woman, both inside and out. You and your wife have to be so proud of her! Please let her know that she will be in my family’s daily prayers.

Lord our God, be near Thy servant Mary as she undertakes her mission. May her work glorify Thee before those who don’t know Thee.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost, amen.

Conor, It has to be really frightening for you to let your daughter follow her calling in such a dangerous place. It appears that she is firm in her belief that she is called to this. So, when God calls us, we have to be willing to go where we are sent. We can't always see the bigger picture and that is what fills us with fear and worry. As parents, it is especially hard to let our daughters go. After all it was just "yesterday" that they were little girls in pink, dancing around with her dolls. How fast they grow up. It feels like it was instant. Life is too short we think, and indeed it is. That is why our young people have to be about God's business. My prayer is for Mary's safety and for your peace of mind as she fulfills her mission.

The light of God surround Mary,
The love of God enfold her.
the power of God protect her.
The presence of God watch over her.
Wherever she is, God is, and all is well. Amen.

Thank you all so much. I am the mother to this young lady leaving for Kenya. While I accept she is doing the Lord's will I also want her to stay home.

Six months is a long time to go without seeing her.

Just the other day while shopping at Safeway I spoke with one of the courtesy clerks who by the way has Downs syndrome. He has quite the crush on my daughter. Not too long ago he asked for my permission to ask her out on a date. I gave him my blessing but he has never gotten up the courage to ask her out. This young man is quite smitten and flirts with her whenever she is in the store. In fact, he tells the checkers to treat her right.

Anyway I told him about her trip and how I did not really want her to go as I would miss her. He then pointed to my heart and said she will always be there - he talked about his father who has been dead for 6 years. He misses him daily but he pointed to his heart and said he is always there. Finally, he told me to let her go and pointed again to my heart because she will always be there - I could barely speak at this point as I was close to tears but thanked him.

As the time for her departure gets closer it gets harder to let her go.

My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
For He has regarded the low estate of His handmaiden,
For behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name. And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with His arm:
He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and exalted those of low degree.
He has filled the hungry with good things;
and the rich He has sent empty away.
He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy;
As He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to His posterity forever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

Magníficat ánima mea Dóminum,
et exsultávit spíritus meus
in Deo salvatóre meo,
quia respéxit humilitátem
ancíllæ suæ.

Ecce enim ex hoc beátam
me dicent omnes generatiónes,
quia fecit mihi magna,
qui potens est,
et sanctum nomen eius,
et misericórdia eius in progénies
et progénies timéntibus eum.
Fecit poténtiam in bráchio suo,
dispérsit supérbos mente cordis sui;
depósuit poténtes de sede
et exaltávit húmiles.
Esuriéntes implévit bonis
et dívites dimísit inánes.
Suscépit Ísrael púerum suum,
recordátus misericórdiæ,
sicut locútus est ad patres nostros,
Ábraham et sémini eius in sæcula.

Glória Patri et Fílio
et Spirítui Sancto.
Sicut erat in princípio,
et nunc et semper,
et in sæcula sæculórum.

Amen.

You daughter will be in my prayers. However I want you to know that I spent several years living in Kenya and as long as she stays away from the Somali border she should be fine.

Can I say she will be in no danger what so ever? No. I can't say that for anywhere in the world. But Kenya is far more Christan then it is Muslim.
