He quoted repeatedly from the Book of Mormon and from writings of the prophet Brigham Young to back up his assertions that the church, formally known as the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints, is racist.
He said the writings accuse "God of cursing African people and causing them to have black skin in order for them not to be attractive to white people. These verses also accuse God of causing the black African people of being disgusting, detestable to white people…. [and] further degrades black, African people by saying they are uncultured, unattractive, unpleasant, lowlife, wild and unintelligent."

I would not vote for Mitt Romney, but it has nothing to do with his, admittedly whacky, religion. I would vote for a Mormon, Jew, Buddhist, Hindu, Jehovah’s Witness, atheist, animist, or even an Episcopalian, if they were genuinely conservative and I believed that they would follow the Constitution and work to restore a free market and limited government.

The one thing that bothers me about mormon mitt - he’s just not a bench warmer, he’s up the ladder. I despised him before I knew he was a mormom and that was before I learned about them. He belongs in the ‘rat party - according to his record in MA. Nothing R about him. I can see this article coming up if he gets the nod.

If he can generate media heat on Romney, just think of what the outspoken NAACP types will do with MONTHS to work over Romney.
And the thing is...they'll be right for castigating Romney...which will be all the more grading...given that the GOP establishment should not have played into their race-card hands...who knows how many Dems have voted for Romney in the primaries?

I agree, I have no idea about the Mormon faith and that is a problem.
