Catholic Church News Image of Yunnan ordains new priests

Bishop Joseph Ma Yinglin of Kunming, who remains unrecognized by the Vatican, presided over the ordination of six priests on Monday, despite warnings and criticism from within and outside China.

The ceremony took place at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in the ancient city of Dali.

A local Church source, who asked not to be named, said three foreign priests were among the 16 concelebrants. They were an American Maryknoll priest studying in Dali and two Korean Benedictine priests whose order makes donations to the Dali minor seminary.

“They came here upon learning the news of the ceremony. We had no reason for not letting them concelebrate,” said the source.

The new priests belong to the three ecclesiastical territories in southwestern Yunnan province – Dali diocese, Kunming diocese and Zhaotong apostolic prefecture.

When asked if any of them were unwilling to be ordained by the illegitimate bishop, the source said: “I don’t know but I saw they were happy.”

Hundreds of Catholics, most of them from various ethnic minorities in the area, were also overjoyed to welcome the new priests at the first ordination ceremony they had ever attended, he noted.

Due to repeated violations of Church law, Bishop Ma now finds it more difficult to receive pardon from the Holy See, said Anthony Lam Sui-ki, senior researcher of Hong Kong diocese’s Holy Spirit Study Centre.

“It is very dangerous for the country and society to have a ‘son of corruption’ like Ma, as the mindset of conniving corruption is contagious, which would encourage more opportunists who disregard Church principles.”

But for the ordination, “we cannot condemn it entirely” as it was mixed with joy and illegality, said Lam.

“For the sake of pastoral needs, we won’t criticize in a lofty tone, but it doesn’t mean we tolerate,” he said.

Before the ordination, some mainland bloggers appealed to Bishop Ma to “repent and avoid making another mistake,” while others said he is doing “a glorious deed for China.”

Another blogger ascribed the confusing situation in China to the Vatican’s compromising policies.

“It is time for Vatican officials to make reflection,” the blogger wrote.

The situation in China is progressively becoming quite serious. Is there no stopping them? The Vatican has disavowed all of these ordinations.

How? The Western governments have no interest at all in anything Christian. If it is anything, it is disdain.

The Underground Catholic Church is just hanging onto survival as they have since the 30’s.

My fear is that these illicit State minions launch a missionary effort into the SEA regions and co-opt what the Church has accomplished. I can just see these “religious” embracing the State codes of abortion, contraception, euthanasia and the wholesale debasement of the individual soul and converting countries to the culture of death.

Taking this to the next step, we can already see what Cardinal Dolan indicated in his interview with Bill O’Reilly. Right here in the US of A, the Obama Administration has used its wiles in attempting to divide the Catholic Church. It has plenty of willing adherents, who disagree with the Catholic position on birth control and the like. In so doing, we have a clearer view of just how divided we are.

Besides no apostolic authority, what does the state chinese church teach differently than the actual Church? Are they supportive of abortion and the loathsome one child policy? Or is it just that they don’t call out the gubberment on such things?

This is one of the best explanations:

“The PA bishops and clergy are obligated by the Communist government to not preach the whole Catholic doctrine and to support - or at least close their eyes to - these errors in order to maintain their good relationship with the government. What happens is that both they and the faithful become deformed by those errors and consequently do not profess the Catholic Faith in its fullness.”

I’m not a Trad by the way. Knowing the Chinese, the “camel’s nose under the tent” analogy is more than apt here.

The priests of the Patriot Catholic Church report to their local bishops and the bishops report to the Congress.

This is another good blog: http://jonathan-dsouza.blogspot.com/2012/03/catholic-church-vs-patriotic-american.html

Remember when Soros et al stated that the Chinese had a good form of government and that it would be good to implement it in the US?

Their religious form would be a good form of religion for the State too. It would seem that Obama and the minions are attempting to organize the Catholic opposition around this principle.

While we are used to the Magisterium moving at glacial speed, the left can move like lightening and coerce a population quickly, within months.
