DAYS OF ABSTINENCE

The days pre-scribed for the universal Church on which the faithful are forbidden to take flesh meat or anything made from meat. All Fridays of the year, except holy days of obligation, are days of abstinence; but since 1966 there is an option to substitute another form of penance. Abstinence must be observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, and all the Fridays in Lent. Abstinence becomes binding at the age of fourteen.

Why are you so sarcastic and against the Catholic Church? What has happened to make you this way?

Let’s just say a prayer for those roasting in hell for eating meat on Friday.

Speaking as one who had left the Catholic Church and then eventually made his way back, in my view you can barely begin to count all the stupid things they do to drive people away.

That being said, all churches are run by men who are fallible.
I would always have had certain areas of disagreement with any Protestant church I might have joined as well. You have to give Church leaders the space to be human, even as they are royally cheesing you off by proclaiming to be infallible.
I have had a much easier time accepting the Church since I made my peace with that.

Better yet, Lets say a prayer for those in the leadership of the Church that have failed to explain this to their congregations, This will be a weight on their souls. How many Catholic do you know who know this and are practicing? I do but not many if any in my church.

I find the same true, and find myself biting my tongue many times.

But if there is a luncheon or meeting on Fridays, I ask where the fish is?
