I will believe the teachings of Forgiveness and Compassion of Christ are superceded by the teachings of sin begets you a death sentence of Mohammed when donkeys fly.

The very idea that Mohammed was a prophet of the same God Christ spoke of is laughable.

When the powers that be came for Christ, he told his followers to put down their swords, when the powers of the time came for Mohammed he told his followers go out and die to protect me.

The very idea that a lunatic who believe he was the avenging angel of God, and went out to kill anyone who did not convert or live the way he dictated is a continuation of the teachings of Christ is laughable on its face.

Jesus Christ died for your sins, Mohammed would kill you for them. That’s not a continuation of teaching, its a complete dichotomy. Islam took monotheism back to the old testament, not forward.

Oh yeah, I'll just drop my concept of a Christian, loving God who gave His life for me and forgives my sins, for a vengeful, sadistic "Allah" who orders amputation of "a hand and a foot on alternate limbs."

Yeah, right Mahmood, I'll do that ... maybe tomorrow.

So the Gospel of Barnabas written four hundred years after Barnabas lived is going to destroy Christianity??? Yeah, right!

Islam has been, is, and always will be nothing but a bad counterfeit job of the teachings of the Holy Scriptures. All they do is take the Scriptures, twist it 180 degrees and then declare that their version is the correct one straight from Allah and the biblical version has been corrupted by the Jews and Christians. Mo-ham-head couldn’t even come up with an original religion. He had to piggyback it onto Judaism and Christianity and then convince other deluded souls that his was the correct version.

I think this will boomerang on the mullahs and inside Iran make them seem even weaker and more desperate.

People who have already decided that Iz Lame is nothing but a totalitarian doctrine, many of whom are already turning to Christianity, aren't going to believe anything the thugs in power say. In fact, anything the leadership says is likely to lead people to believe the exact opposite is true.

They've tried being subtle, putting carrots on sticks, brutality, and random violence, but they're still losing ground and seeing control of the country slip through their fingers. All they've managed to accomplish is to turn the majority of Iranians against Iz Lame and Arabs.

Holy smokes! I haven’t read all the FR responses, but this article is so full of holes it’s hard to know where to start. Barnabas an Apostle of Jesus? A 5th century apocryphal document has weight in determining the historical truth of the Gospel? Why am I wasting my day writing this response? Where was I...

Funny thing is, this “Gospel” was dated after Mo in many cases.

The mullahs had best be careful.

*If* they could establish a provenance for the "Gospel of Barnabas" in the 5th-6th century, that would mean it wasn't a 15th C. Islamic forgery, but yet-another heretical "gnostic gospel".

That would mean that the basic Muslim apologetic against Christianity is really the product of a cultic offshoot from Christianity, a heresy, which preceded Mohammed by maybe a century. And if it can be shown that Mohammed borrowed part of Islam from some Christian heresy, why not the whole thing? Suddenly he's not a prophet, just a plagiarist.
