That is as stupid, nasty, and filthy a statement as has ever been made on any forum, internet or print in my lifetime.
Every group of children who grew up suffering sexual abuse has advocated this for a long time.
Contrary to your foaming at the mouth denial, they damned well do care about children living this horror now.
Tzar fails to note that while leftists may have passed this, it came about because the Victims of decades of abuse demanded that it stop, and the population of Ireland as a whole agreed.
Tzar may reject all those scriptures about God ordaining governments, and the aspects of democracy within Ireland that brought about the response to the populace resulting in this legislation, but that does not make those things not there.
Fr. William Saunders was my pastor when I lived in Northern Virginia. He’s written a couple of books called “Straight Answers” which are compilations of letters he answered when he wrote that column in the Diocese’s newspaper, similar to the column you posted about the Seal of the Confessional.
He is also an excellent speaker. You can hear some of his homilies at the Church’s website where he is the current pastor:

That’s what happeneed to the author of “The Seal” in a prison confession of an inmate.
He won!
Forgot the parable of the prodigal son?
"Luke 15:24, "For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found. So they began to celebrate."
"Would you"
Of course.
And of course, the priest would be compelled to report any sin confessed to him that has been defined by the Government as a crime. This is an attack on the rights of everyone who has committed an act that might be construed as a crime. This is fascism.
So the priest is supposed to report adulterers? Or any sexual act that the Government chooses to call a crime? What about homosexuals who sin but who know that their actions are sinful.
Is it necessary to do this to stop the abuse or just expedient? I argue the latter. Very likely the real perps could be convicted through the same kind of police work that convicts other criminals. Most criminals dont confess their crimes to priests. My guess is that the truly vicious offenders —priest or not- would simply not confess the act. As for priests who have encountered past offenders, that is ex post facto law, which our constitution forbids for the reason that it is inherently unjust.
Point out just one.
A fundamentalist wouldn't do that...
And evangelicals say a little prayer, claim they have been saved, and live like heathens.
I doubt that saved Evangelicals live like heathens any more that baptized catholics...But probably less so...
In the salvation process, Evangelicals turn to God and call upon Jesus to save them; trust in Jesus as their one and only Savior...
Catholics on the other hand, get wet...
You mean like when he's raping their infant daughter? Hell yes!
1955.
Interesting that you consider child rape a private religious matter.
