Same rationale as the Japs NEVER attacking Pearl Harbor, or terrorists flying airplanes into buildings, or virtually ALL of the banks making loans to people that they knew could NEVER pay them back.
I have 6 months worth of food and 5 years worth of non-perishables (of everything from auto parts to water heaters) saying that it can happen.

This is a very, very plausable scenario.
As I have stated before in this forum, if the Feds come to your home demanding your firearms, you will have two choices.
You can leave the mortal plane defending yourself (and perhaps take a few fascists with you), or you can surrender your guns. In the latter, it is a guarantee that you will be on a list & eventually they will come back for you, knowing you are now unarmed. You can then leave the mortal plane on their schedule. Likely from a 10x10 room in a federal facility. The people whose guns are taken will be *first* on the list of dissidents to become political prisoners. And yes, it certainly can happen here. Per Obama's EO allowing indefinite incarceration without warrants.
Chris Mathews (and his ilk) would get a thrill up his leg to see every member of the Tea Party in leg irons. There are a lot of people just like him. If this was 1930 Germany Chris and his type would be wearing brown shirts with "O" arm bands and beating up innocent people in the street and breaking store windows of businesses owned by unPC types.
Probably a big reason that isn't happening now is Americans own guns, the Germans didn't after the Nazis confiscated them. A lesson I hope we don't forget.
I would not recommend a subscription to the “Bacon of the Month” club.
