Do you believe that God is arbitrary and capricious?

If God had not let Holmes be born, how could those three young gentlemen been martyred and be with Him now rather than in their old age?

Answer: Since you are not God, you do not know.

And wishing for something which cannot be, like Holmes never being born, is a little like tilting at windmills.

I believe God is God. I don’t think we should assign human traits to Him.

Of course I don’t know, neither do you, nor anyone, alive or dead.

We all tilt at something.
