Its like Jews inviting Hitler to speak at a Holocaust memorial event.

Good grief. Are both candidates being invited, or is this just a move by the usual leftwing “Catholics” that nobody anticipated in time to stop?

Catholic Charities has many chapters that are basically just Democratic Party beacheads in the Catholic Church.

Any Catholic that willingly stays in the same room with that b***ard isn’t much of a Catholic. So why not just become a Catholic Lite (Episcopal) and start planning the flowers for the next gay wedding?

Under "normal" circumstances, I think it would be an outrage to invite him. In light of the HHS mandate and his vigorous stand against any pro-Life position, I think that it is even more of an outrage, and that it is an out-and-out betrayal by New York Catholic Charities, of what we, as practicing Catholics, stand for.

They should un-invite him, immediately, emphatically and without recourse!

Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

Obviously, Thou Shalt Not Kill means nothing to CC - so let’s invite one who endorses it. Satan has come to KILL/ROB/DESTROY.

Hey Dolan, why not just serve him consecrated wafers, while you're at it?

Michael Hichborn of American Life League told LifeSiteNews, “Regardless of what they’ve done in the past, it is unthinkable for a Catholic charity to invite the man seeking the destruction of religious freedom in America to a fund raising event.“Hichborn added: “This sends the wrong message to pew-sitting Catholics, who are anxiously looking to our bishops to stand up and fight against this clear enemy of the Church who will be joining them for dinner.

YA THINK??? I believe this goes to mlizzy's point in another thread about the molasses-pace of doing the right thing the bishops seem to embrace.

Between the church's continued efforts to help Obama and the failure to repudiate Pelosi’s anti-Catholic rhetoric, I have stopped attending church and stopped financial support. The money that would normally go to the church has instead been diverted to a local battered woman's shelter.

Almost all “organized” religions have a hierarchy that are more concerned with the bottom line than saving souls, and a prime reason a lot of people are labeled as unchurched or non-practicing. The hypocrisy is just too much.

Dear Archbishop Dolan,

I urge you to tell Catholic Charities that they must either disinvite Presidnet Obama from their annual Al Smith fundraising dinner, or inform them that if he does come you will confront him to his face: no beaming Irish smile, no let's-make-nice, no compromise and no joke.

Do not break the back of the Catholic resistance and the hearts of stunned Catholics from coast to coast and around the world.

Remember why you bear the crozier: to protect the lambs and dismay the wolves, and not the other way around.

Under the same Lord and the same Judgment,

Rereading the article, it does say that the Archdiocese was unaware of the invitation, so maybe something will happen to make it go away. I wouldn’t put it beyond the lefties at Catholic Charities to do this to embarrass Dolan (although I have heard that efforts have been made to clean up Catholic Charities there).

“Between the church’s continued efforts to help Obama and the failure to repudiate Pelosi’s anti-Catholic rhetoric, I have stopped attending church and stopped financial support.”

Then YOU need to be better informed!
First - Nancy has a new Archbishop as of last weekend, and this one is loyal to the Vatican and the teachings of the Church.
Second - “The Church” has never supported Obama!
Certain misguided members within the Church have. But, we need to be able to differentiate between the human failings of members, and the actual teachings of the Church.
Citing the shortcomings of human beings as an excuse for not attending Mass is a copout.
Your responsiblity is to do the best you can.
As for where you send your money...The women’s shelter is fine, but you should know there are plenty of loyal Catholic organizations and it only requires paying attention to make that assessment.
