BEIRUT (AP) — The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says one person has been killed in clashes that erupted at dawn in a Christian neighborhood in the old city of Damascus.

The report said the fighting between rebels and security forces took place Wednesday morning in Bab Touma, a predominantly Christian neighborhood on the eastern side of the medieval city center.

Residents said shots lasted for about half an hour between 3 and 4 a.m.

Thanks marshmallow.

The fighting was between regime forces and rebels, in case you were wondering from the misleading headline.

Much more important was the hard-hitting piece from PuffHo:

Syria Conflict: Mortars HIt Palestinian Refugee Camp In Damascus, At Least 21

Boo-hoo, “Palestinian” “refugees” live in Syria since 1948, basically the length of a human lifetime, and they’re still in a “camp”. Ridiculous BS.

The rebels are not all one thing, contrary to what is claimed by all of Assad’s and Putin’s fanbois.

That just means the “right-wing hate radio” joker doesn’t want US intervention, because that would ensure that the Syrian Christians might survive, which they don’t actually give a damn about.

Assad and Iran backed the forces in Iraq which killed US servicepeople, and were responsible for the bombings in Lebanon during the Reagan administration, so the self-identified non-intervention folks have to deny those things happened.

And meanwhile they’ll blame Zero and Hitlery for engineering the whole Syrian uprising, despite the fact that it’s obviously not true, and that, in any diplomatic context, Obama and Co couldn’t pour piss out of a boot with directions on the heel.

Syria serves as a great glimpse into the splintered violent politics of the Muzzie world, and shows the consequences of spinelessly handing over trillions of dollars to OPEC over the past thirty nine years, and tolerating the foreign oil money sponsorship of US politicians (and lawyers) at all levels of government.

Yeah, I don't think so. I'm happy to see any moslems going at it. I'd like to see the occasional "unexplained" explosion which takes out a bunch of them (which ever side is winning at the moment)

They should get Christians out of any moslem country to Israel, where they would be safe and could help ward off the 3M crowd.

Moslem brotherhood, alkida...whatever. It's all the same freakin' thing. Asshead backed alkida when they were fighting us in Irack. Now they are turning on him in Syria. Just like happened to dictators in Egypt, Libya, and others including Iran.

True enough, except I don't think Syria has been a big contributor to the world's oil supply.

The money to dismantle the various muzzie regimes (including Syria) comes from the wellhead.
