(Article)Ben & Jerry's, Chick-fil-A, and Political Correctness

Sent to me on Facebook by a pastor friend of mine.... ****************************

Let me begin by saying I absolutely LOVE Ben & Jerry’s ice cream. (Gonna go ahead and tell you that Oatmeal Cookie Chunk is THE BEST flavor I’ve EVER had!!)

A few years ago I went to Wal Mart (the closest thing to hell I can imagine…that and the DMV), found my favorite flavor and decided to tweet that I was purchasing some Ben & Jerry’s ice cream…and doing so “unleashed the hounds” in a sense. Honestly, I’ve never experienced anything like it, “Christians” began @ replying me on twitter condemning me and scolding me for buying this product because apparently Ben & Jerry’s supported gay rights/same sex marriage.

Honestly, it bothered me. Because, first of all…I wasn’t trying to make a political statement I was simply trying to get some chunky monkey and some oatmeal cookie crunch. I like ice cream…I believe it will be served in heaven (with ZERO calories)! And second, it has broken my heart the way that many who claim to follow Christ have treated those who are homosexuals. We’ve yelled at them, ignored them and in some cases damned them to hell without EVER sitting down and actually having a conversation with someone who is gay.

“But Perry,” you say, “the Bible says that homosexuality is a sin.” Let me put my cards on the table and say that I agree; however, for too long the church has seemed to be obsessed with the sins that we do not struggle with; after all, if I am pointing out the sins of others I don’t have to deal with my own.

What does any of Noble’s rant have to do with an attempt to dictate the lexicon by legislative decree?

I think that is a very reasonable commentary and words worth remembering.

However, I fully believe that this particular issue, the sanctioning of marriage between two of the same gender, IS worth the fight. It is not simply a matter of consenting adults; you are now talking about involving children in homes where they do not have an expectation of any type of normality. Divorce is already destroying so many kids, and we do not need an additional dysfunctional element introduced.

How many mayors have tried to shut down Wal-Mart because it serves Ben & Jerry's ice cream?

The Left fights the culture war through legislation which attacks people's basic rights. Conservatives do not fight that way. We just stand up and tell the truth. But the Left thinks we cross the line, while they're just doin' what comes naturally, so it's OK.

God tells us that marriage is between a man and a woman. He created Adam and Eve -- not man and man or woman and woman, but man and woman.

Look up toxicity reports about Ben and Jerry’s regarding the extremely high level of nasty stuff in their ice cream. It’s from a few years back.

Jeesh! Some people can’t even go to the store and buy things without blabbing about it on facebook. What did these people do with themselves before there was facebook? They need to get a life!

“Their sin” includes inflicting their perversion on MY children, and all the other children in the country. If they shut their mouths, and stopped parading naked with toddlers in bondage collars and leashes, and stopped trying to make everyone approve of them, I’d be happy to let God deal with their sin.

Perry Noble: "... let me be VERY clear that as a child I was molested…TWICE…by men who were older than me. I have no idea if they were or are practicing homosexuals..."

Sorry, can't believe that assessment which blows Perry's credibility.

Er, they are yelling at us. And after they yell for a time, they want to talk to our kids.

I think corporations should try not to employ CEO’s who use their position and other people’s investment money to offend their customers. Liberalism is running the media out of business. It will run corporations out of business, too. Liberals fascism is an insane and dishonest world view.

I pay attention to businesses that employ leftist high horse riders (treasonous citizens of the world who hate America and Christians) and who stick their fingers in my eyes. I avoid them whenever possible. They are adding stress to societies and reaping unnecessary bad will for the corporation. That’s like stealing from the share holders to serve your own petty opinions that have nothing to do with the business at hand.

Every man and woman chosen for a leadership position should be able to figure out that their circle of pals and their world view is going to be different (not superior) than the vast majority of people they come into contact with. Those people are consumers. So they should shut their fat, ignornat mouths and do their jobs playing nice - make the business and profits sound and strong with a worthy image.

Journalists should be put in their place when they try to egg CEO’s into their twisted world view and freaky social fringe causes and conflicts. Everyone cares about mainstream social values like supporting hospitals, homeless people, families, helping disadvantaged people become literate, etc. When they go to the fringes like Google has done in supporting the Muslim Brother’s take over of Egypt and the gay agenda, they are messing with fire. I dispise Google and look forward to the day that nasty coruporation crashes and burns in it’s own hellfire.

The other insane cause of CEOs is to support hippy socialism. Ben and Jerry’s is a good example of that. They will put their businesses out of operation if they are successful in their corporate political drive. Corporate CEO’s should be supporting concepts, activity and people for a free market enviornment. They should be promoting Western business ethics and not liberalism’s slum ethics which has produced more than our share of corporate psychopaths.

nonsense of course.

Usually Christians have a family when we go to Walmart, we are busy filling the shopping cart and more to do than notice if one buys HaganDans, Ben and Jerry, or just ordinary vanilla on sale.

He’s making it up.

This is a joke, right?

The point is that if you ignore the smell from the ovens for a while you get used to it. Once you're used to the smell you can focus on important things like your ice cream. Fifty million infants later and someone can still say mass murder and government mandated perversion are nothing to get worked up over. If the mob wants this guys’ visitors his daughters are in no danger because he'd toss his guests to the mob then relax with a big bowl of ‘Screamin’ Sodomy Cherry’ ice cream.

No wonder the fascists are winning, the people who claim to be Christian think “Go along, to get along” is one of the Ten Commandments.

Let’s review some of Ben & Jerry’s business “ideas.” Remember their anyone can be a CEO contest? They hope you don’t. Epic fail. Turned out that not just anybody could do it.

Then there was the liberal mantra that the highest paid person in a company should be paid no more than five times more than the lowest. Never worked in the real world, not even at Ben & Jerry’s. No competent person wanted to work for what little they were offering. If they didn’t sell out to Unilever they probably would have gone under long ago.

Says who?! (not yelling at you "donna" but the author...)

I am tired of this worn-out meme...as though there are not thousands, tens of thousands, possible millions of us who have and do take the time to present Truth with love (and real freedom in Jesus) to homosexuals (they are not gay, however...).

One of my oldest friends, of fifty years standing, is a homosexual. We have discussed things, amicably even, on occasion. He is actually “retired” now and feeling fortunate that he avoided AIDS all those years. A few years ago half a dozen of his close associates died of various nasty syndromes and diseases in one year and he has been celibate since. He has come to believe that homosexual “marriage” is not something to be desired, or good for society and after a few flamboyant years came to understand that flaming was not satisfying to the soul and has been pretty conservative socially since. He still votes Left but says nice things about Reagan and even Bush II. We don’t agree a lot on Bush.

Big difference between requesting that somebody not a product and somebody demanding that it not be offered for sale.

This author does not know the difference.

My decision not to support Ben & Jerry by purchasing their products does not mean you should not be free to do so. I may mention the facts about the company in case you are not aware of them, but I won’t ostracize you for doing what you want.
