Ominous silence for Obama (Knights of Columbus convention shocker)

I often keep the Catholic network EWTN on in the background as I do housework. This afternoon featured live programming from the 130th Supreme Convention of the Catholic fraternal and charitable organization the Knights of Columbus from Anaheim, California. It's estimated that around 2,000 members of the Knights of Columbus will attend the convention.

The theme of this year's convention is Proclaim Liberty Throughout All the Land. At the opening session of the convention the Knights announced they had letters of greeting from leaders of several of the nations with large representations at the meeting. The first one read was from U.S. President Barack Obama. It was met with complete silence. By contrast letters from the leaders of Canada, Mexico and the Philippines were all applauded.

The silence that met Obama's greeting contrasted sharply with the multiple standing ovations Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson received during his annual report when he addressed the battles with the Obama administration's HHS mandate on abortifacients/sterilization/birth control and with militant atheists who seek to remove signs of religion from the public square...

Were Lutherans, Presbyterians, Baptists, Jews fooled during that election too? Here are figures of how O approval went down just six months after his election.

50 percent of Catholics (Catholics make up about 22 percent of the U.S. population.) approve of his presidency, down from 67 percent in his first six months in office.

among non-Catholic Christians, who make up 55 percent of the U.S. population, had fallen from 58 percent to 43 percent.

Jews were the religious group third likeliest to approve of President Obama, giving him 61 percent approval. This too is a decline: in January-June 2009, their approval rating of the president was 77 percent.

Overall, 48 percent of Americans approve of President Obama’s job, down from 63 percent in the first months of his presidency. Gallup claims that its survey of over 276,000 adults claims an overall margin of error of plus or minus one percent.

A lot of well-intentioned people voted against the Iraq/Afghanistan wars. A lot of well-intentioned people voted for the black guy. Yes, the outcome of those votes has been very bad, but it’s not as if John McCain was any prize.

Anyway, it doesn’t matter now. November 2012 matters now.

I’ve only seen a handful here in Central Kentucky (two were on cars with tons of anti-military and pro-homosexual stickers and the third was on a car with numerous pro-union stickers), but I did see quite a few when I was visiting friends in LA a few weeks ago.

Many of us don’t realize all the opportunities that are aoround us for evangelization.

When I go to the grocery store and they ask me why I am buying so much — I tell them it’s for our Faith 101 series by our priest, tell them the topic of his talk that night and then invite them to come.

If they don’t come, I always know I did my part.

I see a number everyday here in Alaska,more common each day, it seems that they are putting out several different designs maybe tergeted at different groups.
Not suprising really with the number of federal and state employees in the state. It's amazing how many I see on the military bases.

And, I still see tons of Obama bumper stickers in the parking lot when I go to Mass.

That's unfortunate.

Sum total, in the last 4-5 years, I have seen:

One Obama bumper sticker one summer during the Vacation Bible School of our large local parish (might not have been a Catholic at all). None at other times when I am dropping off kids for religious education, etc., and I very much doubt ANY during Mass.

Zero Obama bumper stickers at the parish with a Latin Mass in a nearby town (where we assist). Several pro-life stickers.
