After reading drivel like Bishop Kanouse’s blog and hundreds of ELCA articles like it, it is easy to see that the ELCA is a extremely liberal church that does not understand and in many ways despises Bible-believing, Christ-following Christians. Unfortunately many ELCA leaders also have a one-dimensional view of Jesus which changes Christ into a social justice leader and not much of a Savior.

Yes, liberal churches and leaders who opt for the idea of Jesus as social leader of justice movements do not arrive at the same conclusions as other churches or Christians:

Their very premise is different. They remake him in their own image and thus are arguing from a wholly different religious perspective.

From the article: One of the main points Bishop Kanouse tried to make was his belief that Jesus “would not have been inside Chick-fil-A. No, he was not about sit-ins and causes.”

I seem to recall Jesus protesting certain Temple activities by physically attacking the money changers’ tables. I’d say Jesus was “about” causes, most importantly the cause of repentance of sins and the worship of the true God.

Unfortunately for ECLA, the Bible says what it says. There is no question that there is no such thing as ‘Gay Marriage’. This bozo bishop can say anything he wants, but it has no relevance when it comes to the truth. He is using the opportunity to advance his twisted religion he thinks. What he has done is relegate it a little more into obscurity.

The ELCA should lose their tax exempt status. They are not a church since they don’t believe in God. They are a political advocacy group and should be taxed accordingly.

The bishop? does not speak as a Christian/follower of Christ , but as a tare—as a seed of the evil one planted in the wheat field. He appears as that one spoken of in John 8:44. And will either repent or die in his sins.

Question for any Lutheran freepers who belong to the ELCA: why haven't you left the ELCA to join the Missouri Synod? I am a practicing Catholic, but I am very impressed by the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and am mystified about why a Lutheran who is a real Christian would stick with the ELCA.

Later, Bishop Kanouse said, “In truth our country celebrated a national day of bullying last week.”

I guess we Christian conservatives will have to quit bullying the owners and workers of businesses. - - - Oh wait, those were liberals.

Well, Kevey, it’s sad you’re such a wimp that someone going to a restaurant makes you feel “bullied”. Man up, boy.

And Bishop Kanouse, proving that he doesn’t understand or respect Scripture much at all, made this statement, “. . .the bullied. That's another word, like homosexuality, that Jesus did not utter as recorded in the New Testament. . .”

Let's not forget Jesus never said anything about sex with animals either.< sarc>

That's what happens when prople focus on the red letter version.

Fact is Jesus mentioned Homosexuality in both the OT and NT. It's a little thing we call the Trinity and the idea that all Scripture is inspired.

With all the acronyms in the news these days, I shouldn’t have to Google ELCA to get it’s meaning.

But excuse my ignorance. WWWWW&H.

Living in MN, I have contact with several good Christian women of the ELCA. I am in a mixed bible study group of Catholics and Lutherans.

One of our now deceased members had a legacy in her will for the local ELCA church, but shortly before her death the ELCA came out endorsing Gay relationships and Gay ministers. My friend changed her will and withdrew the legacy.

Another friend told us this month that she and her husband have changed to a more scripturally based congregation which is not Lutheran. She and her husband had finally had enough of the riduiculously liberal actions of the ELCA, This was difficult for her as she was raised Lutheran, and it was like abandoning her heritage. But, she has been faithful to her parents’ faith, than the ELCA. In the end, one is either a faithful Christian, or one is not.

A third friend and her husband who are conservative are still attending the local ELCA, but while at their lake cabin near Brainerd, they attend a small, Mo. synod Lutheran church and they are enjoying the more orthodox Christian sermons. It will be interesting if they stay in the ELCA church this winter.
