TRUE CROSS

The cross on which the Savior died. It was very probably discovered in A.D. 326 by St. Helena, mother of Emperor Constantine. A part of this cross is said to be preserved in the Church of Santa Croce in Rome. The feast of the Exaltation (or Triumph) of the Holy Cross is celebrated on September 14 in the Latin Rite.

All items in this dictionary are from Fr. John Hardon's Modern Catholic Dictionary, © Eternal Life. Used with permission.

TOPICS: Apologetics; Catholic; History; Theology
KEYWORDS: catholic; crucifixion; saints
Note the words "Latin Rite" not "RC". The Latin Rite is one of 22 rites of the Catholic Church. Now you know why the Catholic Church is so large.
