I don’t know where you are. The Dominicans of the Eastern Province (north from Virginia and east from Ohio) are for the most part very sound. I think the Western Province is pretty good too.
It comes down to praying persistently for good spiritual guidance and remembering that God is NOT trying to make it hard for you.
Also, I think we have to decide that we are going to do our own study. When I converted in 1994 it was into a VERY liberal parish. Even they are coming around. I just decided not to let it faze me. I go to the pastor for the sacraments. I go to Aquinas for instruction and to wise and holy people for guidance.
