Catholic Charities is taking over as the agency giving people late night rides to shelters as part of Chicago's latest plan to fight homelessness.

The city will use an expected $1.7 million in annual savings from turning over the overnight services to the venerable charity to help provide more beds and support to homeless youth and others, Mayor Rahm Emanuel said Thursday.

Rahm says “and then plow that money back into better servicing, more beds and more wrap-around services, both for the kids and adults.”

Right. A democrat is going to save money and spend it on something other than buying votes.

It's the latest attempt to make a dent in the difficult problem of homelessness in Chicago.
Or, they could found a Planned Homelesshood, whereby clients get a much-needed rest... for life.

WOW. Saving 1.7million by getting rid of 30 full time employees!! Therefore the average salary/compensation for said employees is: $56,667 a year. For drivers?? To drive folks to a homeless shelter?? No wonder Chicago sucks.

Separation of church and state is a holy mantra for leftists unless their glorious state is in dire need of cash. Then they rake over those Catholic ‘religious chumps’ for the green$. We know the score.

I am sure that Catholic Charities will do a much better job than the city of Chicago was able.

I was a cabbie for awhile thats how most of these night rides work they arent getting rid of drivers in most cases they are just dropping the cab service that provides the drivers ...The drivers will still have their cabs and jobs to make money they will just have to work harder for it thrown back into the mix so to speak

At least that how out cab company squeezed out money !

I think it was Cardinal Dolan who said, we treat people in our hospitals because we are Catholic and not because they are Catholic.

In reference to the abortion pimping in obamacare as it relates to the Catholic hospitals

Is the homeless shelter services a ‘gift’ from Rahm as payback for Catholic Charities giving their pro-family adoption agency to an institution that allows homosexual adoptions?

What to make of this pairing of state and church by a liberal whose greatest enemy is the acknowledgement of God’s existence?

Money?

Nope, he's collecting new DREAMERS, gang bangers and misspent yutes together. He'll be teaching them how to use 357 magnum revolvers. One point five billion rounds of .357 HP ammo the military, police and the NRA have no use for today. A curious caliber for HSA, Social Security and the Democrats to utilize, because most legitimate LEO's use 45 cal, 40 cal and 9mm pistol ammunition.

Our military is prohibited by law from using hollow point ammo. So, just who do you think will be buying up cheaper, dumber than a rock to operate deadly antique 'wheel guns' in the first place?

For all of you who answered Hussein's private Student Loan Army, we have a winner! Of course, they'll be the brains of the operation which will lead the convicts, gang bangers, DREAMERS and assorted acorn nuts out there forward into the Worker's Paradise!

Good luck with that Imam Hussein

It’s possibly like the now famous “horse shoer” in Detroit (who apparently does do other work since there are no horses) who makes about $26,500 a year but whose bennies are over $27,000 a year.

The ‘HeBlew-N-A-Tutu’ seems to have finally understood the value of experience. After all, Catholics have been doing charity longer that the thieves in Chicago.

Hope not, but it wouldn't surprise me at all.

I’m surprised. If the feds shut down the Catholic Charities in Chicago over the mandatory HHS ruling, where would Rahm be then?
