She is a member of Sisters of Social Service as evidenced by the lapel pin with the Holy Spirit dove on it. I know who they are. They are a bunch of heretics living in Los Angeles.

There was a time the Catholic Church was trying to rid itself of Liberation Theology. The people who advocate social justice are touting their own superiority over the less fortunate. The idea has never been to help someone out of poverty but to perpetuate it for the Marxists’ own benefit.

We’re supposed to be lectured to from her?

“Progressive favorite Sister Simone Campbell can’t decide if abortion should be illegal”

The first few years of John Paul II's papacy were decisive. Having lived years under Communist oppression in Poland he knew Marxist B.S. when he saw it. Sadly I think the current Pope is ambivalent.

The Democrats hit the Republicans hard on Ryan’s budget cuts to the poor and rightfully so.

Ryan’s focus is misplaced. Fix the economy, and then you don’t have to make arbitrary cuts to medicaid.

Unfortunately, I don’t thing Romney/Ryan have much more of a clue on the economy than does Obama.

Romney so far has said “Energy independence” and “make trade work for us”. Energy independence is a good goal but he has given us few specifics.

More importantly, “make trade work for us”, is THE key to fixing this economy. Unfortunately, Romney said nothing about what this means. And if you look at Romney’s website he talks about less government regulation and MORE trade. He doesn’t talk at all about fair trade or protecting American jobs or market.

Our founding fathers had nice import tariffs to help American industry. Those tariffs were thought wise until 30 years ago. Now we have almost none and our jobs have fled overseas to cheaper labor.

Neither candidate gets it.

The woman is quoting from a letter here...

http://www.usccb.org/issues-and-action/human-life-and-dignity/federal-budget/upload/reconciliation-letter-to-house-2012-05-08.pdf

The problem is that the Bishop MISQUOTES the Catechism of the Catholic Church. He uses the word “Government” where the Catechism uses “public authorities” and confuses access with providing. Look here... (1905 through 1912)

http://www.scborromeo.org/ccc/p3s1c2a2.htm

If the authors of the CCC wanted the word “Governments” in there, they would have included it. If they wanted “be provided” they would not have said “access to”.

Libs in all positions twist things their way.

Cain’s question to God, “What am I, my brother’s keeper?” was sarcasm. Cain was saying in modern English “How would I know?”
I am not Catholic, so I am ignorant of Catholic tradition, but Cain’s question is in no way a command that we become our brother’s keeper. In the following verses God curses Cain but doesn’t tell him is to become his brother’s keeper.
What the Biblical Jesus had to say about caring for others bears almost no resemblence to the Jesus I hear about from political activists.

>>The Democrats hit the Republicans hard on Ryan’s budget cuts to the poor and rightfully so.<<

Really?

So no matter how many entitlements the government gives and no matter how much “the poor” make, we can never cut them?

Did you know that EVERY woman over the age of 35, regardless of income can get WIC (one of the programs reduced in the Ryan budget)? When my husband made 60,000 a year, I could get WIC with my younger daughter because I was 39.

So let’s get realistic about “cuts to the poor”. Maybe they are perfectly reasonable.

My niece, who works at McDonalds has a better lifestyle than I do. She has a car that gets repairs by the government every time she needs it, she has cable (I don’t) she has an Obamaphone, her daughter gets title 20 daycare after school, free breakfasts, free lunches AND my niece has all her school paid for while I’m fighting to find college money for 5 years from now. She also gets 400.00 a month in “cash assistance” and has a SNAP card.

So who’s poor?

Thank you, although I am sorry that it took 27 posts for the matter to be clarified.

I also believe that Ryan's own Bishop had no problem with the budget.

Excommunicate the cafeteria “catholic” for bringing great scandal upon the Church. She’s a pro-abortion, pro-homo marriage fruitcake fallen-away “nun”, currently under investigation by the Vatican. She’s a joke. You can’t be pro-abortion and pro-homo marriage and be Catholic, it’s impossible. She holds contempt for the Magisterium and for the vows she took 40 years ago. EXCOMMUNICATE NOW!

A couple of sanp observations:

...Wednesday night at the Democratic confab...

Interesting they would call it a "confab". Isn't that short for "confabulation", or making up stories/lying?

Also:

She's got a really bad habit. But what do I konw-- I'm Baptist, and we don't do habits-- at least, not publicly...

If we had had tariffs, we could have avoided the Great Depression, and all the many ones that preceded it.

I think Stephen Blaire, the bishop of Stockton, has been discussed on earlier threads for statements he has made. The nun makes it sound like the bishops generally got together and denounced Ryan specifically, but Blaire's letter (if it represents more than his personal interpretation) focuses mostly on not taking tax credits from (illegal) immigrants and not reducing the number of people on food stamps (after the recent explosion in numbers of people receiving food stamps).

I wonder if these "tax credits" mean reducing taxes...the people in question may pay no taxes already...this could be a question of getting a government check even when you don't pay any federal taxes.

I didn’t leave the Catholic Church, it left me.

Your statement is a lame excuse, not a reason. This nun is not representative of the Catholic Church, and you know it. When progressivism reared its ugly head in my diocese, I searched for and found a Catholic community where authentic Catholic values are taught and practiced. You, on the other hand, decided to walk away.

My head is shaking and eyes are rolling just reading her words. How she could possibly align herself with the party of murder is beyond me. She claims to want to “alleviate suffering” yet she walks out with red lipstick and a string of pearls on. Quite hypocritical and sadly pathetic.

Didn't know nuns had "pay grades."

They don't ...

Why won’t Sr. Simone Campbell answer a simple, direct question about abortion?

Not Catholic here.
But wasn’t excommunication by “Bell, Book & Candle” created for this type of miscreant?
