Father Bernard Lynch, a homosexual Catholic priest and activist known for defying Vatican teachings, has once again challenged the Roman Catholic Church by revealing that he has been married to a man for the past 14 years. Lynch also blames teachings on celibacy for the child sex abuse cases gripping the Catholic Church.

There are millions, and millions of teachers, they are just regular Joe’s, Buddhists, Catholics Methodists, atheists, Satan worshipers, lesbians, just a hodge podge of millions of working people.

There are 39,000 handpicked and Catholic trained Priests, “Father” to as many as a million of those teachers.

Having married presbyters/priests WAS allowed in the early Christian churches. Peter was certainly married as were probably the rest of the Apostles. Even today, the vast majority (90%) of Orthodox priests ARE married. Clerical celibacy was not even considered a general tradition or practice much less an ordinance before the start of the fourth century. Some of the history is explained HERE. Who knows, maybe in our lifetime we might see the Roman Catholic Church change its practice on this, but one thing is for sure, clerical celibacy was NOT an Apostolic tradition.

I should have said that married men are just as likely to be abusers as unmarried men.

I'm not buying it I want to see the statistics about "married" men, not cohabitating or men in relationships.

Your second source is useless, and this is what your first source says, which is different from you statement.

"In fact, married men are just as likely as celibate priests to sexually abuse children"

Don’t minimize the pain and suffering caused by abusers who don’t happen to be Catholic priests.

The most probable pedophiles in order are:

Fathers
Teachers
Coaches
Protestant ministers

Priests are way down on the list.

So if a father is a teacher of mid-high history, coaches the girl’s basketball team and is a youth minister at his church on weekends/Sundays — watch out! He would be much more prone to pedophilia that any priest.

They still know they are committing a sin and going against God. Empty excuses don’t work in the cases of pedophilia.

LOL, asking you to show the data to justify your attacks on marriage is not doing anything of the sort.

You can defend Priests without joining the left in a dishonest attack on marriage by refusing to separate fathers and husbands, from live in boyfriends and hookups.

I don’t believe the claim about fathers because I don’t think they really mean the actual fathers, teachers number in the many millions and it is weird to compare them to Priests, which you seem obsessed with doing.

Which denomination of Protestant? Catholic is just a single denomination of 39,000 Priests.

It is a strange crusade.

Some people are dedicated to soiling the image of all Christian leadership.

It strikes me as odd that people want to burn down the house, and fill the internet with every sordid anti-Christian link that can be found, but we do see it done by a couple of people here.

Which is the greater sin, playing God, by calling oneself Father, as in God the Father, in His name abusing children, is demonic. I am not the one making excuses, claiming 'everybody is doing it'.

I find it more than a bit strange, how every time a thread pops up regarding a 'Father' molesting children, somebody is already with links galore to demonstrate that everybody is doing it. Just plain weird.

yup, like the poster of the thread, it’s sad to criticize the majority of Christian leaders for the actions of less than 5% (who are sinners, scum and darned to heck)

Of course he wasn't in a marriage of any sort, maybe a union of some kind but not a marriage. A failed effort to equate what he was doing with marriage.

The distinction in calling a biological parent father is NOT the same as calling some man in a black or red robe Father as in GOD the Father. Yes, I am familiar with the 'sola scripture' wherein Christ commanded that NO flesh being be called 'Father' as in God the Father.

In most cases I agree with you, unless there is an interesting, or meaningful twist to one of these clergy stories, then they just don’t mean much of anything.

To scour the world for examples of Christian clergy doing something wrong doesn’t make sense, and especially if there is nothing helpful in it.

Priests have an even greater responsibility than secular teachers do. Priests supposedly act as intermediaries between God and men, hearing confessions and pronouncing forgiveness, offering sacrifices and prayers on behalf of the supplicant. He is even said to undergo an ontological change upon anointing as a priest.

The greater the privilege, the greater the responsibility and properly are held to a much higher standard than a school teacher.

And you can condemn sexual abuse without joining the liberal media in acting like it’s worse when committed by a priest than someone of another profession. I defend marriage but it’s not an attack on marriage but common sense to realize that in addition to unmarried men a number of married men are abusers.

“I find it more than a bit strange, how every time a thread pops up regarding a ‘Father’ molesting children, somebody is already with links galore that everybody is doing it.”

I find it strange that when people put up threads about Catholic priests abusing, they get mad when links are put up showing that the problem is just as bad if not worse among teachers, Protestant ministers and everywhere else in society. It’s like their real agenda isn’t the condemnation of sexual abuse but the condemnation of the Catholic priesthood.

My post 28 didn't do that, I merely corrected you about married men.

While I don't get involved much in the Priest thing, I do of course think that it is worse when a religious leader does such a thing, doesn't everyone feel that way?
