“Hate group,” “haters.” I have often wondered how these terms are defined. According to this article, anyone or group you oppose is a hate group or a hater. That seems rather broad to me.

Broad - perhaps, but also fair, as that's basically the same standard being used by Southern Poverty Law Center to label groups like Family Research Council as "hate groups".
