I was in England in 2002. There was a man preaching in the street from the Book of Jeremiah - he was a level above an entrance to a tube station. Someone had called the Police and there were desperate to find the way onto the next level. By the time they got there he was gone. They would have arrested him if they had caught him.
I seemed to have been the only one of a large group of peak hour commuters who actually noticed him and loooked up from the pavement long enough to see the guy. As I looked up from the throng of well dressed workers on their daily commute I couldn’t help but wonder whether he was the only guy in that city that had it right and they would have locked him up for it - go figure - the more things change the more they stay the same!
