Well, it looks like Williamson is now free to become as much of a sedevacante as he has always wanted to be.

TRES BIEN!
Une boussole, vraiment ?

A few years back, FR religion forum was awash with SSPXers and their fellow travelers. So much so, in fact, that they and not the Calvinists were the main protagonists of the Catholic Church, even as they shared (irony of ironies) quite a few things in common such as a loathing for Pope John Paul II, a steadfast conviction that Rome was the devil's seat of operations and a deep seated urge to rejoice at the news of any Catholic scandal.

They've largely all gone now, either banned or departed voluntarily but I well remember discussions with them in which they predicted Rome's impending demise and the eventual triumph of the SSPX, which would finally be seen as the true guardian and keeper of traditional, orthodox Catholicism. When I mentioned to them that there were, in fact, serious divisions within SSPX and that Williamson's wing of the organization was way out there on the fringe and destined for outer darkness, there was laughter and derision.

Well, "ultima ratio", "Land of the Irish", "pascendi", "GerardP", "Mershon" et al., where are you now, folks? And more importantly, which SSPX faction will you be supporting? Fellay's or Williamson's?

Life goes on............with or without SSPX and its increasing number of splinter groups.......

Well, once you start acting like a protestant, it tends to continue splitting off into more and more smaller and smaller groups.

Just shows that the SSPX is, indeed, protestant, although on the opposite end of where you might expect.

I hope that the remainder of the SSPX will be able to reach agreement with the Church. We need them very badly, there are not enough FSSP folks to go around.

Not all SSPXers are sedevacantists. I think most are not. We trads owe a debt of gratitude to the SSPX for keeping the Latin Mass alive. Without the SSPX, it is likely there would be no FSSP or Institute of Christ the King. I sincerely hope the SSPX can come to agreement with Rome while BXVI is alive. Though with talk of syncretism I understand their skittishness.

Actually Fr. Corapi has apparently reconciled with the Church - unlike Williamson.

Interesting. But a brief search turned up nothing. Can you cite a source?

Thanks.

I too would be interested in this information. I cannot find any source that mentions reconciliation with the Church.

I can’t cite an authoritative source, but it stands to reason - especially since SOLT doesn’t deny it.

I would think it incumbent upon SOLT to verify the truth of this reconciliation lest they seem to be operating in the shadows, which I think the Pope would frown on.

Thanks for getting back to me.

God Bless You and Yours...and Father Corapi.
