The "Hot Mormon Muffins" calendar wasn't published by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It was published by a group called Mormons Exposed, ostensibly to raise money for breast cancer research. However, given Mormons Exposed's stated mission to advocate for change in the COJCLDS and to break down LDS social taboos, I have to believe the primary purpose of the calendar was to mock LDS concepts of modesty.
Chad Hardy, the producer of the calendar and co-founder of Mormon's Exposed, was excommunicated as a result of this calendar project. The calendar simply isn't something the COJCLDS did.
