Mormon church wants more compassion for gays

Mormon leaders unveiled a new website Thursday encouraging church members to be compassionate in discussions about homosexuality.
Church officials insist they haven't changed the Mormon teaching that marriage is only between a man and a woman and that same-sex relationships are sinful.
However, the website includes an appeal to gay and lesbian Mormons to stay in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
-SNIP-
"We must not judge anyone for the feelings they experience," church authorities wrote, saying homosexuality "should not be viewed as a disease or illness."
The website does not use the words "gay" or "lesbian," the terms preferred by the gay community.

Many gay Mormons say they have been rejected by their families and have left the church.

OK. A face value reading of your comment didn’t indicate that.
I find that when I post, I know what I’m thinking and post based on that, and later when I reread my post, realize that someone could take it way different cause they DON’T know what I was thinking.
Or someone did and let me know about it

If you have thought it, Christ said, youre as guilty as if you did the deed. Uh...

I realize it is out of context but,
Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?

No, obviously I was paraphrasing. Here’s the passage:
“27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”

Actually, it's the desire that God wants to remove from your heart, the thought could be just a temptation.
Elsie, as Boogieman has posted the relevant scripture, he was not far from the mark.
Furthermore, reading 1 Corithinians 5:17:
New King James Version (NKJV)
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Christ came to completely save us from our sin, in word, deed, and desire, not keep sinning and falsely calling ourselves Christians.
I John 2:3-9
3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, I know Him, and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
7 Brethren,[a] I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which you have had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which you heard from the beginning.[b] 8 Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in Him and in you, because the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining.
9 He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. 10 He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him. 11 But he who hates his brother is in darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.
God makes real no distinction between sins with regards to these scriptures. Elsewhere in the New Testament it is declared that if you are guilty of one of the sins, you are guilty of them all.
But Christ is the solution for all of our sins and as Romans Chapter 8:1 states:
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,[a] who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,[a] who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
Futhermore:
When Paul is talking about "do not walk according to the flesh" he is talking about sinning as he so clearly and emphatically has already proven in Romans leading up to Chapter 8. Conversely, when Paul talks about "according to the Spirit" he is talking about walking in Christ above and victorious over the sin of our lives as he also has already proven in Romans leading up to Chapter 8.
The only reason we, as sinners, do not grasp this Victory that Christ/God has both promised and delivered through Christ's death on the Cross and subsequent Resurrection and victory over Death, is our own mortal sinful Unbelief.

Romans 1:26-28
“26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;”
Matthews 5:27
“27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery : 28 But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”

Elsie, as Boogieman has posted the relevant scripture, he was not far from the mark. True - not far from.
The 'trouble' is that using it they way BM said it is what the devil will USE against one who was tempted:
"Well; ya THOUGHT it - ya may as well DO it!"

Mormon church wants more compassion for gays Hmmm...let's try some other categories....
Mormon church wants more compassion for liars... Mormon church wants more compassion for adulterers...
Mormon church wants more compassion for those who steal...
Mormon church wants more compassion for murderers...
Funny how nothing works. Sin still remains sin.

Considering the cult’s starting point of pedophilia, of course they support homosexuality, another sexual perversion.

You’re right, I should have phrased it better.
My point was that if someone is self-identifying as gay, even if they’re not engaging in the acts, then they’re still embracing the lust, rather than rejecting it. It must be a pretty big part of their psyche, or they wouldn’t be adopting that identification.
I mean, if I had a gambling problem, but got it under control, I wouldn’t go around telling people “I’m a gambler”, and professing support for “gambler rights”, or accusing people of being intolerant to gamblers. If I did, it would clearly be a sign that I hadn’t really rejected that behavior.
