There are many who believe that figures such as the Greek and Roman god’s such as Hercules,(Half man and half god), or the Titans ,”Sons of Heaven and earth” came from the distant human memory of these pre-flood monsters. They were famous for their exploits, feats of strength or perhaps of intelligence. But they were evil.

I thought about this recently when I watched an old documentary called “Chariots of the gods”. Lots of smiliar ancient paintings around the word depicting “ancient astronaughts”. Also, brilliant arcitecture in unlikley places like modern Zimbabwe.

Scripture tells us the unthinkable, that out of the union of humans and fallen Angels came the “Giants”, literally the Nephilim, the “fallen ones”. This rebellious hybridization of the human race, mixing men and Angels(I have no idea how this was possible, but scripture teaches this), is literally the final sin that brought the flood.”

The idea that the Nephilim are Angels breeding with humans comes from the Book of Enoch, not from the Bible.

No my point is that there is something to the aspiration and fascination with Superheros that is idolatrous. Not to say it is a sin to go see Batman, or Superman, but to be aware of the Spiritual nature of it. In the days of Noah, you could literally say that there were “Superheros”, the Nephilim.

No , the idea that Angels left their first estate and went after strange flesh comes from the Bible, 2 Peter and Jude. I have never read the book of Enoch and put no stock in it. I have read the inspired prophecy of Enoch recorded in Jude.

Genesis 6 term for “Sons of God” is Nephilim...the same as was in Enoch.

Given the increasing accounts of folk who feel they have been “alien abducted”, an increasing population of young folks who seem hardened to the truth and appear to have no natural conscience and I would say that the “Nephilim” may have struck again!

“....humanity yearns for a humanistic salvation brought about by humanistic ‘Saviours’...”

in more ways than one, and not only does this yearning exist, it is promoted and encouraged that people should have this yearning - as it is altogether intentional to turn human yearning AWAY from G-d

That’s correct. This entire post is based on someone’s interpretation of enoch. It is conjecture and not based on scripture. Might as well say the “giants” were aliens. I always just thought they were great men and left it at that.

I am the poster, and will not read Enoch because it is non canonical. This post is based upon Genesis Jude and 2 Peter. The Word of God does indeed tell us of the Nephilim, mighty men of renown, Giants. Is I Samuel 17(Goliath) conjecture also?

How could He not have seen it coming?

literally the Nephilim, the “fallen ones”.

Nephilim, does not mean “fallen ones” but rather “Thos that came down” recommend that you read “The 12 th. Planet” by Zecharia Sitchin and specifically “There were Giants upon the Earth” same author. the book of Enoch and the Epic of Gilgamesh to, lots of evidence that support the bible here, none that take anything away, the word “Engels” actually means emissary or messenger, As mentioned in another post, Chariots of the Gods? by Eric Von Daniken have evidence to of visits in the long ago by “GODS” from extra terestial places, things that can’t be explained having been build by stoneage people, open minds and follow the evidence beats blind faith every time

It is difficult to buy into the space alien thing. It is easier to see how these ancient Greek and Roman gods were the Nephilim. I was reading a book that posited that Abaddon/Apollyon/Apollo of Revelations 9 is the Greek god Apollo, or the anti-Christ.

I always wondered how human imagination, which to me is quite limited, had developed these ideas of Greek and Roman gods without there being some associated reality. So they must have existed, but it would seem it was a long time ago. The flood would explain where they went. God “bound” the really bad ones (200 I think?) into Tartarus.

Go to the movie theaters, we are being prepared for VERY extreme visuals, the current movies are dominated by apocalyptic scenarios, extreme violence or super natural phenomena. Satan is laying the foundation with the unknowing for his attempted takeover. Thankfully we can have faith in how this story ends.

Non-scriptural, but a very interesting tangential hypothesis: http://www.themandus.org/

The referenced website does not make the claim that there is a link, but the similarities are intriguing.

None of those verses mention angels breeding with men. You likely based your statements on someone else's conclusions who read Enoch. Or perhaps you independently came to the same conclusion but that seems unlikely.

In any event there are differing theological interpretations of what was meant by nephilim and "sons of God". Some believe as you do. Others believe they were descendants of Seth. Some believe they were just great big men. In contrast with the tone of your post this is not established theology and there are differing interpretations. Is that fair?

It is indeed fair to say that equally sincere Christians differ on the interpretation of Genesis 6.

**The idea that the Nephilim are Angels breeding with humans comes from the Book of Enoch, not from the Bible.**

You got that right!

There is account of the angels leaving their first estate, and being held in’chains’. Nothing in between, other than possessing the bodies and minds of humans. If they were so smart, how come they didn’t have sea going vessels to travel to and fro before the flood? Or organize an assult on the Ark before the waters lifted it away? In the righteous cause of fairness, and equality, even Barry Obummer would have thought of that.

No, I seriously doubt that God would have been outsmarted, in mistakenly allowing the possibility of angels procreating with humans. The sons of God were most likely the religious men of the day, that were mentally and physically exceptional as well.

The carnal mind has always had the tendency to want self glorification. And when one receives it from others, the desire is increased like a drug addiction. Look at some of the oratory and musically talented ‘pastors’ of recent decades. They let themselves get lifted up with pride, some without even realizing it, cave to lust, and crash!
