A good friend is considering joining the Jehovah's Witnesses. What should he worry about?

When I come by my friends house they are always there. They are polite to me but act like I'm interfering. Anyone here associated with them or been to their church? Thanks.

“They are polite to me but act like I’m interfering.”

They are a cult

I’ve known my friend since college. He’s Catholic (not practicing) and going through tough times right now. Two of them come by almost everyday. They know I’m Southern Baptist and sort of treat me with kid gloves when I come over.

My biological father was anti-religion until he got close to death. His ‘sudden awakening’ brought him to the witnesses. When he was bleeding to death from a stomach ulcer it was against the rules of the cult to take someone else’s blood. As a result, he died.

I call that stupidity beyond belief both by the cult and my biological father.

The Witnesses are much like the 7th Day Adventist
I think they both spun off from the “Millerites” -— a group which thought the world was going to end, several times.

They have a cult like dislike for other Christian faiths, particularly Catholics. The Witnesses take over, literally. They have been known to change beneficiary designations on retirement plans and life insurance and move they show complete disrespect for the wishes of family members.

They might also get Power of Attorney and other documents which give them the authority to block the wishes of other family members.

Whenever they or the Mormons would come to my door, I would invite them in on the premise that after I listened to them, they would listen to me explain the Catholic faith.

They always left and never came back. LOL!

Wear Garlic when they are there...

Why the hell would your friend want to join “the one true church” anyway?

Is he a Christian?

Raised a Catholic. Lost his wife (divorce) no kids. Lost his job last year.

Oh! I see. Get your friend to church STAT!

Don’t care if it’s your church or a Catholic one but, he needs some TLC and get back into the fold.

JW’s are taking advantage of his current state and preying on him.

A little family time at church will snap him out of it and a confessional might be in order.

Definitely needs to spend some time with JC.

Prime target for cults. They prey on cases like his.

They don’t vote. They don’t serve in the military. They don’t celebrate birthdays (or Christmas, from what I remember). They don’t believe in the Holy Trinity.
