If you’re Catholic, you should be respectful of the Popes wishes. If you’re not, you shouldn’t care.

These people are idiots.

I am shocked.

I know they don’t like the Pope/Catholic church but I have to wonder why they’d even care? Are they not watching “Buckwild” or something stupid like that?

I’m in the 1% not shocked by anything any more. Death threats are mild compared to some things I’ve seen today.

Sick poindexters hiding behind computers. As usual, the atheists come out in full force to show their twisted minds.

Benedict’s safety is something that’s been on my mind all day today. Will he have a security detail? I can’t recall specifics but I think a book about killing him was published right before one of his apostolic voyages a couple years ago.

I’m not Catholic, but I believe Catholics are my brothers and sisters in Christ. Pope Benedict XVI seems to be a good and faithful servant of Christ. He has a reputation for standing up for Biblical truths against the tide of evil that’s sweeping the world. I’m thankful he was on the right side, and I pray his successor is even more articulate and forthright about the things that really matter in this world and the next.

As a former Catholic I wish him nothing but the best. Raging against the pope is these people’s way to directing their anger at ‘God’. But since they don’t believe in him, it just makes them all the more idiotic.

Morgana: “I know they don’t like the Pope/Catholic church but I have to wonder why they’d even care?”

They care because Pope Benedict XVI spoke out against the things this world holds dear. Had he said it’s OK to be a sodomite, kill babies, etc., these same people would be praising him.

There’s a spiritual war going on in the world, and it’s really heating up. I have never seen the lines so clearly drawn as they are now. It’s going to get worse.

I wonder if any of those posting the hate speech messages would ever say anything bad about a muslim. My guess would be a big "no".

Strange isn't it?

I wonder where their snide arrogance will go when they eventually are confronted with their maker.

I don’t see it that way. I think the faster it heats up the better. That way we can get it done with. Why let it drag on and let the evil grow more vile by the day.

Warfare, spiritual, or physical is best fought quick, hard and difinitively.

When your idol is a Hitler wannabe who preaches hatred, why wouldn’t you say these things?

This is the internet. It’s just too easy nowadays for trolls to say stuff like this, not because they are necessarily anti-Catholic, but because they can and they enjoy the attention they get from mocking other people.

It’s also too easy to catalogue these troll comments and make it into a news article for the mass media outrage machine to dine with.

papertyger: “Why do the heathen rage, indeed!”

Because they are selfish, immoral sinners, much like we once were, and they don’t want to hear the truth. When I was doing wrong, I knew it. I tried to rationalize it (we humans are very good at that!). The last thing I wanted was for someone to reopen the sin that I had managed to rationalize and hide. It’s really just so much easier to do what’s right and live with a clean conscious, but it’s hard to explain that to someone who thinks the wages of sin are worth an occasional twinge of guilt.
