I understand that the Gey Mafia has had it in for the Pope for some time now, but from what ROOD was reading in this letter and some of his commentary afterwards it seems as if the charges are much more sinister and series this time.

ROOD was strongly implying that the RCC has been guilty of major human rights violations including genocide for a long time now. He mentioned several situations that I had not heard of before.

I think of ROOD as sort of a religious Rush Limbaugh; he is entertaining and occasionally informative, but hardly diplomatic (although Rush has had some diplomacy and discretion beaten into him over the past few years).

I don’t worship the “Messianic Matador” or even accept everything he says, but I do find him to be terribly interesting. He makes, IMHO, a compelling theological case for the return of the Christian Faith to our original Hebraic and Biblical roots.

>> Does anyone else have any intel about this?

Yes - I’ve just heard the same from a Catholic theologian friend. The pope, a brilliant academic, has repeatedly handled situations requiring “delicacy” poorly:

1/ The church is essentially dead in Europe, and the pope has not been effective in reversing this.
2/ His non-support of Turkey entering the EU.
3/ His statements to the Jewish community.
4/ First on the list, however, is his stonewalling of the sex abuse scandals, and in fact ordering his bishops to continue the coverups.
5/ His bringing former Archbishop Mahony (Los Angeles) to Rome after the sex abuse scandal his Archdiocese endured. (It is my understanding that the current Archbishop - Jose Gomez - after reviewing the records of these 508 cases, has refused to allow Mahony to perform any duties within the Archdiocese - the largest in the United States).

Is this a big deal? Yes - the last resignation occurred nearly 600 years ago.

". . . but I can't imagine that he would fabricate something of this potential magnitude. "

Right, he wouldn't fabricate it but,

". . . he puts on a miter and goes off on a diatribe about the Papacy, Priesthood, Catholic traditions and other subjects pretty much guaranteed to offend you."

he is a dedicated anti-Catholic who spews lies and half-truths about Christianity and the Catholic Church that are sure to offend Catholics.

Anyone who "can't imagine" Rood fabricating and/or repeating anti-Christian and anti-Catholic lies and garbage probably can't imagine someone pumping out little anti-Catholic comic books full of lies, either.

Yeah sure.

“This is the first and only report I have seen about this development, so can’t vouch for it’s authenticity.”

Authenticity? You really think you can authenticate the BS you just slathered all over the website?

Seriously? What are you going to do? Ask this anti-Catholic bigot to tell you if it’s on the level?

Do reseach? Ask for intel?

You sound very suspiciously like a banned quack ex-freeper.

I hadn’t heard about the comic books!

He seems to sell plenty of DVDs but I didn’t see any comic books for sale on the site.

Maybe they all sold out...

Methinks you generalize a bit with the term “Anti Christian”; if we can separate the FAITH from the RELIGION and examine the history of the Christian Faith, it can be demonstrated that a plethora of man-made rules and traditions as well as residual pagan influences have infiltrated and adulterated the Faith over the years, to the point where it bears little resemblance to the God centered relational community that followed the example and commandments of it’s Lord and Master, Yeshua HaMasshiach (a Hebrew name which, after centuries of churning in the linguistic laundromat, is now more commonly known as “Jesus Christ”).
To the extent that ROOD wants to get back to the basics and dispense with ego-imposed human adulteration, you could say he’s “Anti Jewish” too. He wants people to follow the life style and discipline specified in the Torah (Bible) rather than what a bunch of Rabbis and Pharisees dictated over the years.

Institutionalized, establishment “religion” has probably done more to destroy humankind’s relationship with our Creator as well as one another than all the public schools and colleges, bars and brothels combined.

That, I opine, is what ROOD is opposed to.

I will concede that he slaughters a lot of cherished pet sacred cows with reckless abandon, and that practice does not make him universally popular by any means.

I think you’ll find that despite his unabashed anti-establishment theology, he is in fact very pro-God, pro-Bible, and Pro-Christ.

An ‘unidentified’ EU country? How pathetic. They won’t even identify themselves.

Whoah; guys!; I didn’t come in here to burn anyone’s cross or unload any crocks of kakka on the Queen’s carpet.

Notice my title is posed in the form of a question, not a statement; I come begging for feedback, elaboration, confirmation or rebuttal, edification even.

We’ve gotten some very useful and constructive intel and feedback already, for which I thank contributors - but are the flame throwers all that called for here?

Can we have an intelligent discussion without all the scatological invective and threats of banishment?

I sort of thought (hoped) that the days of FR flame wars were behind us. I have been around a while, and have seen some doozies. It’s one thing to ruffle a few feathers, but quite another to set the chickens on fire.

You didn’t notice that ‘Rabbi’ Michael Rood (or whatever his real name is, wherever he really comes from) is a four-alarm kook?

I can certainly see how he could come off that way to a lot of people, especially when he goes waddling around in his Old Testament Prophet’s costume with that funny crooked walking staff of his.

He denies being a “Rabbi” although I think he does claim to have a fair amount of theological education of some sort.

I guess I just have a soft spot in my head for interesting people... and Rood certainly is, IMHO anyway, interesting.

Thanks again for all the constructive feedback; it has added a lot of depth and perspective to this issue.

Good is BAD....BAD is GOOD....BLACK is WHITE....UP is DOWN.

Essentially, that's what The Book of Revelation says will happen in the last days. Not that I think we're getting close. I think things like this will go on for a long while B4 we get to the End Of Days.

if the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me. If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. He that hateth me hateth my Father also. If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father. But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause. John 15:18-25

I think we (Christians) all knew these things were going to happen; or have seen similar.
