GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - Controversial author and former pastor of Mars Hill Bible Church in Grandville came out in support of marriage equality during a forum March 17 in San Francisco.
During the forum at Grace Cathedral, an Episcopal church, Bell was asked about his position on gay marriage, and responded by saying, "I am for marriage. I am for fidelity. I am for love, whether it's a man and woman, a woman and a woman, a man and a man. I think the ship has sailed and I think the church needs -- I think this is the world we are living in and we need to affirm people wherever they are."

And the highest, most primary love is the love of God, who said "If you love me you will keep my commandments." Thus, there can be no love apart from righteousness, justice and holiness. Rob Bell has no idea what biblical, agape love is and I pray the Lord see fit to regenerate him, fill him with the Holy Spirit and bring him to a true, saving faith in Jesus Christ.
The church needs to what? ignore parts of God’s word and join in loving the sin?

There are wolves among the sheep. Not just in “liberal” denominations and parishes, either. A Southern Baptist pastor that I know quietly campaigns for gay rights and a boatload of other liberal social causes. His reasons? “The church has to stay relevant to survive” and “love, sweet love, etc. ad nauseum.” (More likely it is because his son is a flaming homo, but he has yet to admit that publically.) Even many who are now running true will be sorely tempted to kiss the pink ring in the near future when their 501.3(C) status becomes conditional upon their stance on this issue.
If a word can mean anything, it really means nothing. Likewise if marriage can be anything, it really is nothing. Which is the actual goal of the left. No marriages, no families, no religion.

Hadn’t heard of him before. Based on Wiki, he sounds like someone who wants to tickle peoples’ ears rather than proclaim the truth about God.

Rob Bell lost the name Christian a while back, when he declared that hell doesn't exist....the idiot.
As far as I am concerned, you don’t have to agree with same-sex marriage. If the rest of the nation does it, well, you can decide not to do it in your own church.
Praying for you today. Becoming a Christian was the best thing that ever happened to me. Christ completely and miraculously changed my life.

That’s not the problem, there is no danger of ‘gay marriage’ being accepted in many faiths, in my opinion. And if some do accept it, they can’t punish any one else who doesn’t, like you say. The problem is if and when the state will punish those faiths that will never accept it. Considering 30 years ago ‘gay marriage’ wasn’t even an issue, I don’t think that is out of the realm of possibility.

I often wish I could. My main hang up is that I don’t really believe in Jesus and I don’t want to be a hypocrite. I don’t want to lie to myself and everyone else. If I did that, what would be the point? I want to believe but I don’t. The story of Jesus is powerful but it seems like an allegory to me. To be a Christian means by definition you must accept Jesus as your savior. You must believe. And so far I just can’t. I just can’t suspend my disbelief. I’m really not trying to offend anyone. I hate to use the term ‘fairy tale’ because that term is often used by people to mock Christians and anyone else who dares believe in G-d. But that’s the way it feels to me. I’m sorry that I don’t have other people’s ability to believe. I don’t know how.

I appreciate your honesty. You can’t make yourself believe no matter how much you may want it. I would recommend asking God to help your unbelief. Also, you may want to read Lee Strobel’s “The Case for Christ”. Again I will be praying for you.
Prayer is just simply talking to God. If you want, just pray and ask God to reveal Himself to you before you read the Bible. Tell Him you're struggling believing but you desire to and let Him work through that. You aren't the first person to struggle believing in your heart what you are wrestling with in your head. See what He does with it.:)
Therein lies the inevitable problem for all of us, either we really believe in Jesus Christ, or simply God, or we don’t. Either we believe that our belief is the right belief, despite the fact that governments could fine us, jail us, and so on for belonging to what they term the wrong belief system. It has happened before, people of Christianity and Judaism have had to be willing to get jailed, pay religious taxes (fines) or even die as opposed to abandoning their religion. I never wanted to see the day where the kinds of awful trials of faith would be upon us, but as far as I am concerned, I very well may see it, plus see state governments do it, in fact, I think it’s likely that National Governments will start doing it all with at least making you pay your religious fines in a few years’ time.
