Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

The Story of Joseph

Genesis, Chapter 50

1. Then Joseph fell on his father’s face and wept over him, and kissed him. 2. And Joseph commanded his servants the physicians to embalm his father. So the physicians embalmed Israel. 3. Forty days were required for him, for such are the days required for those who are embalmed; and the Egyptians mourned for him seventy days.
4. Now when the days of his mourning were past, Joseph spoke to the household of Pharaoh, saying, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, please speak in the hearing of Pharaoh, saying, 5. ‘My father made me swear, saying, “Behold, I am dying; in my grave which I dug for myself in the land of Canaan, there you shall bury me.” Now therefore, please let me go up and bury my father, and I will come back.’”
6. And Pharaoh said, “Go up and bury your father, as he made you swear.”
7. So Joseph went up to bury his father; and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt, 8. as well as all the house of Joseph, his brothers, and his father’s house. Only their little ones, their flocks, and their herds they left in the land of Goshen. 9. And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen, and it was a very great gathering.
10. Then they came to the threshing floor of Atad, which is beyond the Jordan, and they mourned there with a great and very solemn lamentation. He observed seven days of mourning for his father. 11. And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning at the threshing floor of Atad, they said, “This is a deep mourning of the Egyptians.” Therefore its name was called Abel Mizraim, which is beyond the Jordan.
12. So his sons did for him just as he had commanded them. 13. For his sons carried him to the land of Canaan, and buried him in the cave of the field of Machpelah, before Mamre, which Abraham bought with the field from Ephron the Hittite as property for a burial place. 14. And after he had buried his father, Joseph returned to Egypt, he and his brothers and all who went up with him to bury his father.

Joseph Reassures His Brothers

15. When Joseph’s brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, “Perhaps Joseph will hate us, and may actually repay us for all the evil which we did to him.” 16. So they sent messengers to Joseph, saying, “Before your father died he commanded, saying, 17. ‘Thus you shall say to Joseph: “I beg you, please forgive the trespass of your brothers and their sin; for they did evil to you.”’ Now, please, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of your father.”
And Joseph wept when they spoke to him.
18. Then his brothers also went and fell down before his face, and they said, “Behold, we are your servants.”
19. Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God? 20. But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive. 21. Now therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.” And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.

Death of Joseph

22. So Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he and his father’s household. And Joseph lived one hundred and ten years. 23. Joseph saw Ephraim’s children to the third generation. The children of Machir, the son of Manasseh, were also brought up on Joseph’s knees.
24. And Joseph said to his brethren, “I am dying; but God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land to the land of which He swore to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.”
25. Then Joseph took an oath from the children of Israel, saying, “God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here.”
26. So Joseph died, being one hundred and ten years old; and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Our Father in Heaven,
How Hallowed,
Magnificent,
and Sanctified
is Your Most Holy Name!
How Blessed and How True is Your Word,
and How Mighty!
How Glorious,
to Span the Millennia,
To be Unfettered by Time and Space,
To Know The End from the Beginning
and the beginning from The End!
For it is You, Oh LORD,
Who designed the Galaxies with Your Compass,
And Mapped Out the Vast Reaches of Space
With Your Word and Your Omniscient Imagination!
Scientists tell us even the heavens are finite.
But YOU are Infinite!
LORD, remind us ALWAYS to Worship You,
and not Your Creation.
Your creation is there but to proclaim YOUR GLORY.
Hallelujah and Amen.

Father, Thank You For This re-affirmation of Your Covenant with Israel.
We Thank You For the Jewish People.
Who in spite of Exile and Dispersions,
Persecutions and Expulsions,
Pogroms and Holocaust,
Have managed to survive to this day.

We Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem,
According to your Will and Promise.
We Pray for the Citizens of Israel,
that they can live in their neighborhoods
without having to worry about rockets hitting their children.

We Pray For The Swift and Sure Coming of Messiah,
Blessed Be He,
To Establish His Kingdom,
and Make All Things Right.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem

Thus Ends the Story of Joseph, and With This, The Close of the First Book of Moses, "Beresheet", which we call the Book of Genesis.

The First Book of the Torah begins and ends with a Promise. In The Beginning, it is a Promise to All Mankind. In The End, The Plan is Already in Motion, Crystallizing into the Nation and People through Whom Redemption will come.

Joseph's Forgiveness of his brothers is positively EPIC. It stands out as one of the most glorious moments in all of Scripture and is a "Type" or "Picture" of Our Merciful, Loving God.

After surviving attacks by Babylon, Assyria, Saladin, the Crusades, The Ottoman Empire, Two World Wars, and Israel's 60 year struggle for Existence, Joseph's Tomb in Shechem is now under the "Custodianship" of the "Palestinian Authority". Jews are only allowed to visit The Tomb of Joseph once a month. The Tomb itself was vandalized and nearly destroyed by Arab mobs in October of 2000, and they attempted to build a mosque on the site. Several IDF soldiers lost their lives on that day, defending the Tomb., Although, in my heart, I believe that The Patriarch Joseph is beholding the Face of God, I still consider the Tomb to be a Holy Place, because of its STORY, not because of the bones buried there.

Come and Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem, For Our FRiend Mesta Machine, For Our FRiends in Need, For persecuted Believers, and for our Own Beloved Nation.

Blessings To All Who Visit This Garden of Prayer.

Hallelujah and Amen

We are to have the faith of Joseph, Daniel, Job, Joshua, Caleb. Walking with God. True steadfast faith and obedience. Moses and David and the prophets, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Zachariah, Isaiah, and all the minor prophets of the Old testament; yet Israel turned aside again and again.

America has done that. Have any of you read the New York best seller “The Harbinger”? We have been warned ... via (9-11); The Economic collapse in 2008, etc. America has turned aside.

It is a powerful book. Time is short.

Father we pray for the peace of Israel, Jerusalem, for the persecuted believers, for the lost, we cry out for forgiveness, mercy, healing, and restoration of America, turn us back to thee, fill us with thy Holy Spirit, we thank Thee and worship Thee, honor and praise thee, in Jesus name, amen..

The Israeli Poet, David Shimoni once wrote..”from every Jewish heart an invisible path leads to the land of Israel. As so it was with Joseph as he foreseen what GOD would do for ISRAEL, even his own bones. And how fortunate are we, who LOVE our LORD, LOVE the Jewish People, LOVE the BIBLE, and LOVE the LAND of Israel, that we have this same pull and to Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem and Bless the Nation of Israel. The LORD granted me the opportunity to walk the path to Israel last year, and I must say, my heart remains there too. Every chapter of the BIBLE has been brought to NEW LIFE as I have seen with my eyes the very places it speaks of, and my feet had touched “HOLY GROUND”. Thank YOU LORD GOD, for filling me, filling us with YOUR DIVINE LOVE. May the Peace of Jerusalem rest in our PRAYERS even today…Amen.
