Bishop Contradicts Archbishop, Says Same-Sex Marriage Supporters Should Receive Communion

A retired auxiliary bishop in Detroit has told supporters of same-sex marriage that they should continue receiving Communion, directly contradicting a statement by Archbishop Allen Vigneron.

“Don’t stop going to Communion. You’re okay,” Bishop Thomas Gumbleton advised proponents of gay marriage. He was speaking just days after Archbishop Vigneron had said that Catholics who disagree with the Church on the definition of marriage should refrain from Communion. The archbishop had said that receiving Communion while being in fundamental disagreement with the Church “would result in publicly renouncing one's integrity and logically bring shame for a double-dealing that is not unlike perjury."

Websters will do, “”readily noticeable : conspicuous. b : widely and popularly known “”

Sane people would call the Vice-President of the United States and the ex-Speaker of the House who is now Minority Leader, and both well known Catholics and who just took communion at the Vatican prominent.

You’d be well served to take an elementary vocabulary class and learn the meaning of the words you attempt to twist into some kind of self serving gibberish.

Pope needs to have a word with fools like this and take them back to Rome or kick them out of the church

I suspect if your pope kicked out all the clergy who believed this, your religion would die a quick death...I suppose your popes have to allow this to continue to hold onto power...

"Guilty of the body and blood of the Lord." Blood guilt for the unworthy reception of this Sacrament.

What's that mean???

I may have only suspected you had no idea about what the Church does, has done, and is doing regarding the homosexual pervert topic specifically and the leftist scourge that attacks not only the Church but all good institutions in general.

You is not cool -I suggest you ask questions rather than continue making an ass of yourself.

The heretics were prominent enough at the Papal Mass.

It was a preeminent opportunity for the Pope to establish his seriousness on the issuance of communion to those KNOWN to be at variance with Church policy.

But he didn't.

He consciously allowed the apostasy to go forward, thus signaling his OWN COMPLICITY in its continuance.

It's difficult to assess exactly, how Catholicism is going to be able to crawl out of this hole when the Pope himself is digging it ever deeper.

It means they are in the worst kind of spiritual trouble. They will be condemned for their unworthy reception, for “not discerning the Body.”
