How sad, considering the great Sages who came from Eastern Europe.

Ukraine, the birthplace of Reb Nachman of Breslov, is another example. The Orthodox Jewish authorities there recently added their voices to the corrective of pro-homosexual propaganda, yet the Ukrainians still don't like them.

And Lithuania is probably right after 'Eretz Yisra'el and 'Eretz Bavel in the hearts of many Jews, yet it has always had the same problem. Don Feder was trying to reach out to Lithuanian conservatives recently (I think it was Lithuania, though it could have been another of the Baltic states). I don't know if he made any headway, but I hope he did.

European conservatism is highly localized and xenophobic, almost ethnolatrous. Any claim of universal objective truth is taken by them as "subversive."
