Poll shows anti-Jewish sentiment among youth in Poland's capital. 44% don't want a Jewish neighbor.

Anti-Semitism is high among teenagers in the Polish capital, according to an opinion survey conducted in the run-up to Friday's 70th anniversary of the Warsaw ghetto uprising, the AFP news agency reports.

The poll of students from 20 Warsaw high schools, published Tuesday, found that 44 percent of respondents said they would be unhappy to have a Jewish neighbor.

In the survey of 1,250 students commissioned by the Jewish Community of Warsaw, the Homo Homini polling institute also found that two in five said they would not like to have a Jewish classmate, and 61 percent said they would be upset if their partner turned out to be a Jew.

Okay . . . I know that the article and the people cited approach this as a "multicultural" and "tolerance" issue rather than one of objective religious truth and correct behavior, but even so, the statistics are what they are.

American chrstians are among the most pro-Jewish, pro-Israel people in the entire world but they are the exception. Elsewhere chrstians--whether ancient liturgical or classical Protestant--are among the most anti-Semitic people on earth (with Middle Eastern chrstians being at the absolute pinnacle). I have always and shall continue to defend all pro-Jewish Biblicist chrstians from every kind of falsehood and slander, but American chrstians should ask themselves some very hard questions. If chrstianity really is "the one true religion," then why was it universally anti-Jewish until radical Protestants cracked open their Bibles? How can an a-historical reconstruction of an ancient religion be "true" if it has absolutely no presence in prior history?

PLEASE consider the claims of Torah Judaism that the Noachide Laws are the one and only true religion for all non-Jews at all times and in all places! Just consider it for the first time in your lives!

Anyone who has ever had family visit to Poland would find this unsurprising.

Sad to hear, I always thought Poland was a relatively safe place for Jews in Europe, historically speaking.

Or lived there for any length of time. The further East you go in Europe, the stronger the anti-Semitism gets.

Both of my parents were Holocaust survivors who were children in Berlin when it all started. My father died a long time ago, but to this day, my mom has far worse feelings towards the Poles than the Germans, and she ain’t real fond of the Germans.

I have always felt that Martin Luther’s teachings were the single biggest reason for negative attitudes towards Jews in Europe. When you exhort your followers to burn down the synagogues and kill the Jews you get those kinds of results.

Doubtful. Most Europeans are woefully ignorant of their religious heritage and couldn’t tell you who martin luther was, and yet are virulently anti-semitic.

“Relatively” is a very relative term in this historical context.

I can no more understand the unChristian behavior of modern any more than I can of people claiming to be Christian over the past two millennium, or of American Jews who seem more anti-Israeli than most Christians.

Evangelical Christians, which I consider myself to be, believe the entire Bible, Old and New Testament, is the word of G_d to which we are bound. That would include the Noachide Laws (which I didn't know what that were until you used that term).

I'm not sure what your point is but can only say their will always be evil in the world, and that includes people to claim a faith in which they don't actually believe or faithfully follow. The poll is disturbing to me and tells me that Poles are not the Christians they may claim to be, or secularism is much stronger in Poland than we realize.

Hard for me to swallow the Martin Luther argument. Firstly, it predates him. Secondly, there are other denominations. Poland, which is supposed to be so dang racist, was Catholic, wasn’t it? Germans didn’t get around to exiling them (into death) until 400 or so years after Luther, whereas Catholic Spain chucked them out during the inquisition. Which I guess could be blamed on Luther in a backwards way, since he is thought of as sparking the heresies against which the inquisition was reacting.

How sad, considering the great Sages who came from Eastern Europe.

Ukraine, the birthplace of Reb Nachman of Breslov, is another example. The Orthodox Jewish authorities there recently added their voices to the corrective of pro-homosexual propaganda, yet the Ukrainians still don't like them.

And Lithuania is probably right after 'Eretz Yisra'el and 'Eretz Bavel in the hearts of many Jews, yet it has always had the same problem. Don Feder was trying to reach out to Lithuanian conservatives recently (I think it was Lithuania, though it could have been another of the Baltic states). I don't know if he made any headway, but I hope he did.

European conservatism is highly localized and xenophobic, almost ethnolatrous. Any claim of universal objective truth is taken by them as "subversive."

So you adhere to a form of chrstianity which has no roots in the ancient chrstian past and is basically an American invention. How is an inauthentic chrstianity "true?"

I'm not sure what your point is

My point is simple: Please consider the possibility that chrstianity (in all its forms) is a false religion and that G-d wants you to be a Noachide. If you love the Jews as much as you say you do, surely you can just give the claim a hearing.

The Soviet domination of Poland for over 40 years didn’t help matters. In fact, in 1968, the anti-Zionist faction of the Communist Party pretty much kicked out most of Poland’s remaining Jews.

I trace my religious roots back quite a distance, at least as far a Genisis. I also accept the books of Moses and the Prophets, and the Gospel of the New Testament. There will always be disagreements over the interpretations and different Christian sects. Is Juadaism that much different?

Now that I understand your request, let me just say it is not something I reject out of hand but I also accept the Gospels. It took a long time and a lot of self-examination and self-reflection to come this point. That does not diminish my love for Jews in any way. They are still G-d’s chosen people and many Jews I consider close friends, though they sometimes puzzle me over their committment to their beliefs.

Such polls have absolutely zero consequence in real life.
Those teenager may have Jewish friends and not know about it.
Next, let’s poll American-African teenagers, huh?

OK,fair enough. In my very strong opinion, real Christians (as opposed to Ted Kennedy "Christians") and real Jews are off limits for criticism regarding their beliefs.Other faiths may well be off limits too...I'd have to give that some thought.OTOH,real moslems are fair game for the most vicious contempt (given that the Religion of Pieces is,in fact,a medieval death cult).

No it is not. I am proselytizing, which is politically incorrect. PC says that all religions are equally "true" (ie, they're all wrong anyway, but they teach nice life lessons). I am a true religious fundamentalist in that I believe there is one true religion and everything else is unauthorized and wrong.

Are you aware of the rabidly anti-Protestant rhetoric coming from Catholic FReepers that basically repeats all the caricatures of "inbred, illiterate, bigoted morons?" Do you ever chide them? What about the anti-Catholic posts by Protestants? Should they all be scrubbed? And then of course there are the mormons, who sustain a continuous attack on their religion by almost all other FReepers (and for the record, I think mormonism is wrong too, but the attacks on it especially from Protestants is particularly hypocritical).

Shoot, we've got a British Israelite now telling the story of how the "one true religion" was "restored" after having disappeared for a zillion years. We've even got (or had) a Swedenborgian who proselytizes here!

Judaism isn't just a stage in the development (or "revelation") of chrstianity. It is a religion in its own right, with a clear and certain claim on Truth that no other religion has. Even chrstians don't dispute this; instead they ridiculously assert that while Judaism (and Noachism) was true once, it is no longer. Meanwhile, while everyone agrees that Judaism was the True Religion at one time, no one can agree on what replaced it! Do you know how ridiculous it is to see all these various chrstians cutting each other to shreds, disproving each others' claims, while still maintaining an absolutely stupendous and utterly irrational loyalty to their particular version, whatever it is.

Meanwhile, while chrstians continually remind everyone of how much they love Jews (and many of them do, especially American-style Biblicists), they don't seem capable of laying aside their prejudices for ten minutes to make a simple investigation. That is absolutely absurd!

Do you love the Jews only because they were a stage in the development of chrstianity or because it was authorized by A-mighty G-d Himself at Sinai? If you love them at all, you can certainly take a small amount of time to investigate Jewish religious claims. Certainly you have all investigated religions multiple times in your lives, perhaps even really bizarre ones. Whence comes this invisible wall that prevents you from considering the possibility that Judaism, the religion that used to be true, still is? Use a little logic!

You'd be surprised how peaceful it is to no longer have to wonder if "my version of christianity" is "correct."

I don't get it either. Jesus was a Jew. When we pray we say, “In Jesus name we pray”... meaning that we're asking Jesus to intercede on our behalf... In essence, we're praying to a Jewish man...

There might be some ‘blame the victim’ defense mechanisms going on... other than that anti-semitism's a mystery to me too. I don't know what to say...
