From Works of Mercy to Voter Fraud

Election 2012

Burying the dead is a work of mercy. So, too, is voting for them, according to Sister Marguerite Kloos. Or at least that’s what she thought last year until Ohio investigators nabbed her for an act of voter fraud. This week she plead guilty to the charge of voting twice, acknowledging that she forged the signature of a deceased nun, Sister Rose Marie Hewitt, on an absentee ballot.

“When the absentee ballot was received at Ms. Hewitt’s address, (Kloos) opened the envelope, forged Ms. Hewitt’s signature, voted Ms. Hewitt’s ballot, and mailed the ballot back to the Board of Elections,” according to the prosecution’s case.

To those wondering why the Vatican is trying to reform the leadership of U.S. nuns, such stories provide ample explanation. That nuns have gone from burying the dead to voting for them is yet another illustration of their descent into left-wing politics.

Kloos hails from the Sisters of Charity of Cincinnati, an order that branched off from the congregation founded by St. Elizabeth Seton. Could Mother Seton have imagined the headlines about her order’s nuns these days?

What began as works of charity has degenerated into dissent, radical feminism, and raw politics. Charity has become “social justice,” which is nothing more than a euphemism for the platform of the Democratic Party.

If the Vatican is engaged in a “crackdown” on U.S. nuns, as the media likes to say, it is probably four decades too late. Saul Alinsky would have been amused to see that his subversion of female religious orders—he made a deliberate point of recruiting nuns for his causes—has culminated in sisters committing voter fraud. As Thomas Pauken wrote in The Thirty Years War, “the radicalization of elements of the Catholic clergy turned out to be one of Saul Alinsky’s most significant accomplishments.”

Presumably, Sister Kloos wasn’t stealing votes for Mitt Romney in Ohio. Press accounts leave out which candidate she cast Sister Hewitt’s absentee ballot for, but a glance at her resume allows one to hazard a reliable guess.

Kohnen and Kloos

Sister Kloos has said that left-wing politics inspired her vocation: “Working with those who worked with a purpose on behalf of a better world felt good, and women religious were very active in such things as anti-nuclear marches, third-world poverty, education and health care. All the women religious I met (in many communities) were among my favorite people, so the decision to enter was really an easy one.”

Sister Kloos has also been described in press accounts as a professor of “feminist theology” and “eco theology.” Until last month, she belonged to the elite of Catholic higher education, serving as “dean of the Division of Arts and Humanities at the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati.” She resigned that post, but will continue to teach in the school’s religious and pastoral studies department, where her official biography touts her interest in “environmental studies” and “research in feminist methodologies for cross-cultural spiritual care.”

Her order has told the press that she remains in good standing. On the order’s web site, one can still see pictures of the George Soros-subsidized “nuns on the bus” campaign in Ohio. Sister Kloos is no doubt a hero to her confreres.

To the casual observer, the story would seem beyond parody: a nun and dean of a Catholic college risking (but not getting) jail time to steal a vote for the advance of her left-wing politics. But it is all too real and predictable, capturing a snapshot of the ethos within certain orders. In the past, nuns risked prison to defend the Church; now they defy authority to help the most anti-Catholic president ever tear her down.

Obama won the Catholic vote in 2008 and 2012 thanks in large part to a contingent of these nuns. His “Catholic advisory committee” numbered among other clergy Sister Jamie Phelps, O.P., professor of theology at Xavier University, and Sister Catherine Pinkerton with the Congregation of St. Joseph. Sister Simone Campbell famously turned up at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, where she extolled Obama’s policies while sharing the stage with Sandra Fluke and abortion lobbyists. Sister Carol Keehan, the Daughter of Charity who makes around a million dollars a year as the head of the Catholic Health Association, helped the president pass his health care bill and then served as an apologist for his “revised” contraceptive mandate.

It is no coincidence that Obama received his Alinskyite training in the 1980s at Mount St. Mary’s, a college run by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet that had a cozy relationship with Alinsky’s Industrial Areas Foundation. The archdiocese of Chicago helped pay for Obama’s trip to Mount St. Mary’s, where at IAF training sessions the young community organizer got to mingle with the very priests and nuns who would later work for his election and then seal the unholy alliance with an honorary degree from Notre Dame.

Alinsky hammered into his Catholic acolytes the idea that the ends justify the means. It wouldn’t have surprised him in the least to find the nuns on the bus taking a detour to an Ohio courthouse for an arraignment on voter fraud.

I’m glad she was caught but wonder how she managed to be singled out from the hordes of secularists who do the same thing at every election. Does anyone have more information?

That's a crime now? We'll have to warn every liberal activist in the country.

"Right-wing" is a handy paintbrush with which liberals tar conservatves. The left cunningly labels the rest of us "right-wing" b/c in liberal-land, "right-wing" is code for "horrid" things like "religious judgementalism," "moral certitude," and, "religious piety."

The snide Lib/progs dismiss us as lacking the left's "enlightened values" — reason, tolerance, compassion, diversity, equality.

Quoting the left's intellectual mentor, author, Saul Alinsky: "They do not have a fixed truth -- truth to them is relative and changing..... they are free from the shackles of dogma." (from Rules for Radicals dedicated to Satan).

A Dominican Republic native--a convicted criminal--got into the NY legislature using voter fraud.

Nelson Castro.

By 2008, Castro had already compiled a record of criminal arrests in two states and had lied in court about voter registration fraud inside his own Bronx apartment. And that was before the Dominican Republic native got elected to state office.

Bronx Democratic Party leaders anointed Castro in the to fill a spot on the Democratic primary ballot for the 86th Assembly District. Castro was a former staff member for State Sen. Adriano Espaillat, A Dominican Republic native, and the party bosses were eager to elect a young Dominican politician in the South Bronx, where the Dominican population was growing rapidly. "We knew Nelson had had some legal troubles before, but no one had any idea at first how bad they were," said one leader who participated in Castro's selection.

EXCERPT---Voter fraud was one of ex-Bronx Assemblyman, and Dominican Republic native, Nelson Castro’s tricks for gaining political power. Castro schemed to illegally register dozens of voters in his district who voted to send him to Albany. (NOTE: registering at Castro's adress means they were already register at theor own address. How many times did they vote?) Castro also forged signatures on petitions to earlier seek office as a district leader.

Those revelations are spelled out in a deal Castro signed April 2 in which federal prosecutors agreed not to prosecute those crimes in return for wearing a wire in a probe of his political colleagues.

Castro agreed to resign from the state Assembly, while Bronx prosecutors agreed to drop state perjury charges for lying about the number of people registered to vote from his one-bedroom apartment. Castro got wired and taped cooperation Assemblyman Eric Stevenson promising to introduce legislation for shady businessmen who wanted to open adult day care centers.

This “nun” only does what many in the hierarchy would do if they weren’t gelded.

Most of the hierarchy and religious are occasional Catholics and full-time dammocraps. It gives understanding to the dictum that most bishops are damned.

I am wondering too how she was identified.

I speculate perhaps the associated Ohio County does cross checks of deaths against voter rolls or a group of concerned citizens does.

We need more citizen watchdog groups monitoring the voter rolls.

“Kareema Cross, a “medical assistant” who worked at Gosnell’s Women’s Medical Society clinic for four-and-a-half years, testified that she saw one late-term baby who survived an abortion “swimming” in a toilet and “trying to get out.”

If this “nun” supports abortion and the evil Bath-House Barry who has no problem with infants surviving an abortion being ignored while dying an excruciating death, she’s no Catholic and she’s no NUN; hell-she’s not even human.

May she spend eternity swimming in a toilet, trying to get out.

This absolutely sickens me. She should be in jail. Voter fraud conviction and punishment should be at least one year in jail, with no provision for early release!

As Thomas Pauken wrote in The Thirty Years War, “the radicalization of elements of the Catholic clergy turned out to be one of Saul Alinsky’s most significant accomplishments.”

They were also affected by radical feminism, which is one of the main reasons their orders are dying. No young woman who feels drawn to serve God in a religious order would bother with the orders that have dumped God, and have spent the better part of thirty years focusing on liberal social justice activities.

It was pretty obvious. Everyone knew that Sister Hewitt was deceased by the date that she supposedly voted.

We should all cross check the voter lists in our county with the obituary notices. Note whether voters are registered at non-existent addresses. How many non-related people are registered in small apartments? Keep an eye on nursing home voting. Is the Alzheimer’s wing voting straight Democrat?

"Most of the hierarchy and religious are occasional Catholics and full-time dammocraps. It gives understanding to the dictum that most bishops are damned."

In a way, it has been pretty demoralizing lately how strongly some of the U.S. Bishops (including Cardinal Timothy Dolan) have been backing a number of very questionable democrat initiatives, including the recent democrat gun control effort (opposed by Fr. Mitch Pacwa and others), and the current democrat bill trying to reward illegal immigrants and their illegal behaviors.

Sadly, Bill Donohue of the Catholic League seems to have become Cardinal Dolan's point man for these democrat issues, and has been strongly pushing them in his Catholic League newsletters lately.

(Not long ago, Bill Donohue even sent out a newsletter where he was saying that one of Obama's phony "compromises" on the HHS mandate showed great promise. He later backed off from that nonsensical statement, after the rest of the Catholic world in America vociferously blasted that obviously fake compromise from Obama.)

It can be pretty depressing at times seeing people like Cardinal Dolan and his point man Bill Donohue buying into so much of the rotten democrat agenda with such obvious, but difficult to understand enthusiasm, in light of Obama's efforts to undermine the Catholic Church and her sacred teachings.

I think the foolishness of those two latest democrat efforts in particular has been made clearly evident in light of the sad and horrific events of this past week in Boston.
